The hardest part of IVF for me was after it was over. I had pain in my ovaries for weeks as they shrank back down to their normal size. At that point I knew that it hadn't worked so that probably adds to my negative feelings towards that point in the process.

The weeks after the retrieval too. I had to walk so light and slow for week cause every step sent a sharp little pain to my ovaries. And having gone through all that with nothing for even a day 3 transfer.

I hated the waiting and uncertainty following egg retrieval. Wondering and waiting for news on how the embies were doing was not my strong suit!

Oh man, this is hard... all of it?
The stim part wasn't bad because at least I felt like I was doing something and was getting updates every other day.
The retrieval was fine, even though I was sore, because I was excited about the outcome.
The time between retrieval and transfer I think was actually the easiest for me because I felt like it was totally out of my hands, with the embryos being in the lab (where I couldn't eff them up, haha).
The worst for me was probably the wait from transfer to beta. There's nothing left to do, but you feel like you should be doing *something* to help them along, and ultimately I felt responsible for them not sticking. Maybe I'd feel differently if I had ever had an embryo successfully implant.

The waiting for me. Have to do the ER then wait 2 months before doing my FET. Trying to remind myself to stay positive and that the waiting is good for FET, but currently not doing a good job at it being positive.

I think the waiting for me was the hardest. The TWW is always awful. Then during my second cycle, having my betas checked every 48 hours really made me crazy. I think that was the hardest thing I have been through with any of my infertility journey. I wonder if it's because deep down I knew something was wrong even though my betas were doubling. I don't know but the constant testing and the waits between testing is very hard for me to deal with.

I don't think anything was easy about it, but hands down my OHSS was the more miserable, painful experience I have ever gone through.

The waiting after BFPs has been the hardest part for me. After the first one, the waiting to hear beta levels was a bit of torture every couple of days. We thought we were pretty safe after having three great doubling betas, but then miscarried that next week or so. After my second BFP, the lines just didn't get any darker, and I was lightly spotting, but my clinic wouldn't let me come in any earlier than planned for a beta, to confirm that the levels were dropping. So that was really rough for me.

@Shutterbug: haha totally agree-- I like when they're in the lab because I know I can't do anything to screw them up!

Hearing that the first didn't work. And that the second resulted in a chemical.

While there wasn't really an 'easy' part, the absolute worst was the horrible doctor we had on transfer day who was rushed and short with us and pretty much told us not to expect any to make it to freeze (we ended up with 2). By the time we got home from transfer I was a complete mess and totally lost it.

We had to do PGD so I think the fear of losing a good embryo due to the biopsy was the scariest part for me. That and waiting to find out how many "good" embryos we had.
Aside from the procedural parts, emotionally the hardest part was feeling lonely. Feeling like I had no one in real life to talk to and the ones I did talk to couldn't relate. Including my husband. -
For me, it's a tie between the last few days of stims (so sore!) and the bloating. I had 20 eggs, so my ovaries were "kissing," as they say, which made things very uncomfortable.

Aside from the pain of egg retrieval itself, the hardest part of IVF is the waiting. Always with the waiting. Breaks my heart.

I think the hardest part was the fear that it wouldn't work and I was throwing money out the window.

The waiting for everything! Phone calls, test results, cysts to go away, fert report, day 3, day 5, PGD results. Blech

...and the disappointment when something didn't work, or didn't work as well as expected. -
@leanne82: Waiting is pretty much the worst. That and dashed expectations when/if things don't pan out.
