3.5 year old love salmon. He sometimes will cry over a cheese quesadilla (he usually loves them, ugh threenagers); but salmon he never says no to!

We're Chinese and eat some pretty weird things by American standards and DD usually will try a bite of anything.

Shrimp is her favorite. She also loves crab (ever since she was little DH taught her to say "I love to eat Sebastian!" )

@petunia354: my LO loves beans and rice but won't eat guacamole - she doesn't know she's missing out!
grapefruit / 4988 posts
I'm not sure what adventurous means but we love ethnic foods so some of my LO's favorites are shahi paneer, pad see-ew with tofu, and these fried balls filled with sweet bean paste that we get at dim sum (no idea what they are called). She is obsessed with beans (any kind really) so she loves Mexican food too.
As for other weird stuff, I think within the last couple weeks, she's eaten bone marrow, a fiddlehead, and a couple types of fish, although I can't say she's loved any of it.
papaya / 10570 posts
The most adventurous thing? Chips (French fries). Or fish fingers (fish sticks). Seriously.
pineapple / 12053 posts
nori and just today she had chia seeds in a cup plain?! but forget about chicken tenders! she won't eat them!
kiwi / 524 posts
LO likes salmon a lot, too, but it's not an unusual food around here (Seattle).
He likes dark chocolate, shrimp, seaweed, pickles, beets, coffee (when he can sneak some). He's pretty interested in trying new foods for the most part, although he's unpredictable and sometimes refuses to eat anything but graham crackers. Toddlers!

My 16 month old adores toasted seaweed. She ALWAYS squeals with delight when we serve it.

E loves shellfish. She especially loves shrimp, crayfish, and clams. One of her most adventurous ... probably when she was gnawing on a large sun-dried octopus tentacle in Greece. Whenever she sees octopus, she says "yummy"!

My kiddos will eat almost anything as long as it's safe for their food issues.

@Cherrybee: yup. If my older one eats a chicken nugget, or other type of meat, I'm legit blown away.

@snowjewelz: same! Everything we eat is pretty standard to us but is probably crazy for a lot of HBers. Both my Girls LOVE fish tofu and fish balls. But those are completely normal in Chinese food. Both girls also love it when I make steamed whole fish with soy and ginger. Head and all doesn't phase them because it's normal in our house. DD1 may have traumatized a school friend when the friend was talking about her pet fish. DD1 responsded with "I love to eat fish! My mommy makes me fish!". The little girls look was a scared blank stare. LOL the teacher changed the subject REAL quick.

Pickled beets. Both kids love them! I cannot stand them and may have had to fake trying them in front of DD1

Some of your kids are more adventurous than me!
My almost 3 year old is a decent eater, but the most "adventurous" is probably these Madras lentils I get from Costco. Really tasty with mild Indian spices. Generally she doesn't like spicy though.
@Cherrybee: c will only eat fish in the form of fish sticks, and only if I call them "special nuggets". She's actually tried it a bunch of times and various varieties, so I accept that she just doesn't like it that much.

Nothing terribly unique...we eat a lot of Indian food, and they turn their noses up at it unless we wipe off all of the masala/spices. But for whatever reason, the newly 2 year old really likes salad (I suspect she likes salad DRESSING, haha), and the 4 year old is recently obsessed with lobster. Not very long ago we were out with family at a very casual local buffalo wings joint, and she conversationally asked the waitress "Excuse me, do you have lobster? Because I'd like a lobster!"

DS loves all sorts of crazy things. Lemons (he would eat lemons all day), sashimi, octopus, all kinds of fish/shellfish, raw onions... he loves food.

both of my girls love cooked salmon and raw salmon. they both love sauerkraut and fight over the sauerkraut in a dish we make with pork. my younger one loves lemons. my older one is now almost 6, and used to be such a picky kid, but as she gets older, she is much more open to trying things and actually enjoying it. my younger one has always been pretty open to trying things.

LO eats salmon and rice wrapped in nori. When she was little I could get her to eat anything.
eggplant / 11716 posts
She eats salmon, hummus, avocado, and broccoli like it's going out of style but last adventurous thing she loved was iddi appam, or string hoppers. It's just noodle patties made from brown rice flour but it was adventurous for her because she hadn't had them before. Now she's eaten them every day the past 3 days.

People find it weird that my child likes seaweed, so I'll go with that. She loves the stuff - she even asks for it when we are at sushii restaurants and usually the sushi chef will send some over to her.
She also loves every fish I have ever placed in front of her.

@mamabolt: DS is a fan of tuna sashimi and crab legs/blue crab. He turns 3 next month. I just think it's crazy. lol
@mediagirl: DS LOVES seaweed also. He enjoys eating dried seaweed with sliced cheese. So weird and gross, but okay... lol He also loves the seaweed in his miso soup. He always requests for extra!
pomegranate / 3393 posts
He'll try anything, unless we tell him it's super spicy, and we eat pretty adventurously. In the last few weeks he's eaten Ethiopian food, Korean food, Japanese food (sushi & ramen), Iranian food, and Indian food. He's 3 and has some days when he's not into eating in general, but usually really good.
eggplant / 11861 posts
Salmon, pulled pork..is as adventures as I can't think of.for my 18 month old DD
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@regberadaisy: Haha, exactly! So I don't really know what's exotic/adventurous anymore.
She eats lobster, crab, fishball/fish tofu, all kinds of noodles, will eat mildly spicy things... I mean, dumplings have chives in it and that's prob a veggie that not a lot of kids eat!
grapefruit / 4988 posts
@mamabolt: At what age did you let them eat sashimi? I would love to introduce it to my toddler, but there is so much conflicting info about what age is "safe."
eggplant / 11824 posts
My LO used to be an adventurous eater, but now is all "kid food" all the time. Most adventurous now (pathetically) would be rice, shrimp and beets.
pear / 1965 posts
She is so on and off about eating. Some days she will try anything. Other days this picky eater comes out in her. But she will NEVER turn down Black Olives. Its like candy to her. She loves them.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
He will take a bite of anything but I wouldn't say his palate is very adventurous. When he was younger he was better. He likes fish. He likes edamame and gyoza . He liked those sesame balls with red bean paste we got at a sushi train place. He ate Asparagus the other day for the first time and liked it. He also likes jalapeño chips.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
It's not really adventurous to us, since I'm vegetarian and we eat it a lot, but lo loves tofu and tempeh! Actually she's rejecting chicken a lot lately, which used to be her fave, but gobbling up soy products...
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
She likes to eat bites of my spicy curry pho when we go out to eat it.
