Due to supply issues, my realistic goal is 6 months. My ideal goal is 12 months. I know it's against the norm here, but I really have no interest in extended BFing.

My goal was six months! But once I reached that, I extended it to a year.

My goal is one year and wean around that point. We haven't had any supply issues but if difficulties come up in will reevaluate.
I'm not terribly interested in extending bfing either. I'd like my body to be just for me for a while before we contemplate baby 2.

My goal was 6 months and then I started weaning. 7.5 months and this is my last week BF. Bittersweet.

We're only at week 3, and will BF At least 6 months and then hopefully as long as we'll both go.

12 months. I hope we can still nurse a bit when I'm back at work, but pumping won't be an option.

I didn't think I'd have any interest in nursing past 12m but now that I'm staring down 11m I am feeling differently! 12m for sure, probably 18m now. Hoping o let him self wean.

DS1 was 28 months when he weaned and DS2 is 21 months and going strong.

To wean by 18 months (no idea HOW we are going to do this but I'd like to...)

My initial goal was six months but that quite quickly got pushed out to 12 months. We weaned when DD was 13.5 months old and I am very, very satisfied with that!

No idea..my initial goal was 12 months, and we've made it, but I don't know if I"m ready to wean...!

One year of EBF/pumping at work. Then I'd like to drop the pump and allow LO to self wean from the nursing sessions when we are together, hopefully by age 2.

My goal was 12 months. I'm nursing about once a day now at almost 14 months. I think i'm ready to be done soon!

6 months - 2 more weeks! My supply has randomly gone up over the last week or two (!?) so going beyond that seems more realistic now than it was a month ago. Although I would love to cut down on the pumping sessions.. 2 at work is much more manageable than 3.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@JoJoGirl: I only pump twice at work!! Though I pump before work too and often once in the evening. So... maybe not any better than just doing three at work, haha.

@Adira: Once A starts STTN I'll probably have to pump when I get up if she's still asleep, then do twice at work. I'm pumping on weekends too to make up the deficit from during the week, which isn't so bad.

@JoJoGirl: Yeah, I pump on weekends too to make up for what I lack during the week too!

12 months is the goal but happy to continue if it is still going well.

2 years. I'll definitely go longer if she's wanting to continue. Almost 9 months in!

I really hope she self wean by 2. She's a few days shy of 18 months.

M goal was 12m. I had NO interest in going beyond that..and here we are at 13m. I'm more attached than I thought I would be or ever wanted to be. My goal now is to wean by 15m.

My goal with DD was 12 months, we stopped at 14m by my choice.
My goal with DS was also 12 months. He is 13m and I am trying to figure out my next goal; I'm sort of hoping my upcoming week long work trip (he'll be 15m) will take care of it for us because he is still very interested in nursing but I am not.

my goals have changed a few times. before i knew anything about bf, my goal was 6 months. Shortly after LO was born, i changed it to 12 months (almost there!). But now my goal is 2 years (or close to it) - i will have to see how things go when i go back to work. i plan to pump at least once on my lunch break. i might also pump while i am driving to work in the morning just to build a stash/maintain my supply.

We had a whole host of issues with BFing at the beginning. I remember at the beginning thinking if i could make it to 6 weeks, I'd give myself a big gold star. Once it was a bit better at 8 weeks, I figured I could do it til 3 or 6 months. We are 5 days shy of her first birthday and I'm still nursing morning and night. So freakin proud of myself for pushing through.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant right now, so mine is to just make it through the first couple feeds!

My original goal was 12 months. Now that I have just reached 6 months I feel very content to stop whenever it stop naturally (ie I won't freak out if we don't reach a year).
pineapple / 12053 posts
My initial goal was a year and now that we're 9 months in, I'm open to going longer if she wants to although I imagine a transition to just morning and night if possible. I think my cut off would be 18m - 2 years.

My initial goal was 12 months and now that we've made it, I'd like to allow him to breastfeed as long as he wants... or maybe 24 months will be my max. we shall see!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
I'm already supplementing but I'm hoping to give her at least 50% breastmilk til 6 months. I doubt my supply will make it past that.
