Mine wasn't the pain... it was pooping while I was pushing! Luckily I pooped right when my contractions started, and by the time I started pushing, my stomach was totally empty.
What is your biggest labor fear?

I think I'd be afraid of any tearing! I've heard horror stories from some girlfriends...

@mssally - i agree. but overall, i think i'm scared of pain. i'm so pain intolerant. morning sickness is making me so miserable. so i can just imagine how much physical pain will make me feel.
i think i'm planning to get an epidural, but i know that labor pains will show up in the next few weeks. that's what i'm terrified of.

@mssally - i had 3rd degree tears, but it really wasn't that bad. i didn't even have to take pain meds (i don't have a high threshold for pain either). it hurts, but you're gonna be on a baby high and sleep deprived so you'll barely notice!
my worst fear was pooping while pushing too. HAHA. luckily i emptied out my bowels once my contractions started. phew!

Not so much the pain (since I plan on an epidural)....but tearing. Really nervous about that.

My biggest fear is the recovery after! I've heard some horror stories and honestly, I'm scared to death! I'm a pretty big wuss when it comes to recovery, when I had my wisdom teeth out, I was miserable and that's nothing compared to post-baby recovery.

My biggest fear is the pain (although the pooping is a close second @Mrs. Bee)! I have ITP and I've read that you can't get an epidural if your platelet count is too low. I'm so scared about having to try to do it naturally since I'm such a wuss!!!

I'm afraid of the pain even though I am planning on an epidural. I've heard stories of women not being able to get them because they waited too long, things like that.

I'm nervous about the recovery period, but I'm also afraid of not knowing when I'm in labor.

My biggest fear was having to get a C-section after pushing X amount of time. Even though he was a big baby he got out (with alot of help)

Haha... my fear was pooping while in labor too... so I tried really hard to poop when my contractions started... but I must have also been pushing the baby down because by the time I arrived at the hospital I was 7 cm dilated! My other huge fear was getting a C-section. Lucky for me I didn't have to. The irony was that post-partum, I was afraid to poop!

I was afraid of getting an epidural and feeling like I had no legs! Luckily, the epidural didn't feel like that at all.

My biggest fear was pooping, too! Prior to having the baby, I made the hubs agree that if I were to poop, we would never speak of it. But as soon as the baby was out, I asked, "Did I poo?" and he said no...
If there is a baby #2, my new fear will be the recovery because mine was painful for #1.

I worried the most about the health of my baby through labor, and I wanted the best for him. Luckily he was a champ, and he came out nice and healthy with no complications.
I also only had a small tear that did not require any stitches That was a relief since I didn't massage my perineum like suggested in those baby books. I did poo, and I wasn't bothered by it.

Not pregnant yet but right now, I'm worried about giving birth to a big baby. My mom, sister and brother's wife have both given birth naturally and without meds. At the moment, I think I can do it without meds, too. Although, I have a feeling that my kid won't be a small baby like I was. (I was 5 lbs). Plus, I'm a pretty petite person.

Pooping definitely worried me and probably would have been my first fear... until I recently read Geekinheels' post about turning into a human squirt bottle. http://www.geekinheels.com/2011/09/28/the-most-disgusting-thing-about-childbirth.html
OMG. New fear. The picture didn't help.

The pain. The tearing. The recovery. I'm such a wimp with pain.... I'm really worried about how I'll handle labor and the aftermath.

@jenna - ugh, yeah i read that too. i've NEVER heard anyone mention that before. i'm also scared of the unknown. knowing there's tons of things that happen that people just don't talk about.

Pooping is by far one of my biggest. I'm a little under two weeks from my due date and I carefully select every meal for how long I think it will take to digest. It sounds horrible but I am absolutely afraid. I'm so craving a steak but I think that takes too long to digest.
Other than that I don't want to tear. I like my privates and would like to keep them as close to normal as I can. I want to be able to enjoy and reach the big O after I heal from birth and the tearing might make that difficult.
