@Smurfette: nice!!! The only one in reasonable driving distance for us (45 mins) is inside a mall

Taco Bell. And Neato Burrito, a local Chipotle-like chain (way better than Chipotle).

@Smurfette: yes it is and the few times we make it up to that mall are usually after church on Sundays, and I always get so excited only to realize they are closed for the Sabbath on Sundays. I respect it but SAD!!! When we visited Charlotte NC for 2.5 days we went 3 times!

@lawbee11: Their 1st location opened up when I was a freshman at LSU. I remember getting a 5 piece box for less than $5! There were only two options - sandwich or 5 piece box. It's so nice to see a local company get so much success!

My favorite is probably chick FIL a - good food and good service.

Chick-fil-a! Their food is great and I love when I say thank you they always respond with "my pleasure"

    @mrs. wagon: I've never been but there's a drive-thru one in Westboro

Oh, I don't know. Arby's, Chick-fil-A, Jack-in-the-box, Chipotle, McDonalds (fries) are fast food restaurants that I crave regularly. I'll also crave Wendy's, KFC and Five Guys now and then. If it was close, In-and-out burger.

I don't know if I can pick one favorite. If I had to choose, I think it's a toss up between CFA and Chipotle.

@Greentea: Oh, Panera! That's a good one, too.

McDonald's all the way. Big Mac, fries, coke = perfection.

Chick-Fil-A, Raising Canes, and a southern chain called Braum's. Braum's has burgers and an ice cream area too for banana splits and hot fudge sundaes, so convenient!

@mrs. wagon: I agree - no drive -thru? then its not fast food!

However, our chic-fil-a does have a drive thru!

@mrs. wagon: Agree about your no drive-through rule, that's why I didn't mention chipotle even though I love them!! But CFA has a drive-thru... too bad yours doesn't!!

@Mrs. Bee: WHAT. All these trips to CA, and you never tried a CFA?! Your kids would love it too!

@whenoceansrise: Yes, CFA has the BEST customer service. Every time we go, they always happily hand out balloons to our kids, and they pretty much serve us like they would at a restaurant too - bringing us extras of things, refilling our drinks, etc. So nice!

I am surprised no one mentioned Burger King! CFA is good, but sometimes you just want a burger and Burger King is the best. I also love their fries.

@Mrs. Bee: I don't know when they first started franchising here, but it's been around for at least the last 5 years!

    @mrs. wagon: Our CFA has a drive-thru. Man I couldn't survive if it didn't.

    My top picks are
    1) CFA. It's now the only one in our area with a kids playground.
    2) Whataburger! I like their breakfast and hamburgers
    3) Taco Cabana. Just wish it was a little closer. But then again maybe that's a good thing it isn't

5 Guys but the nearest one is 5 hours away so it's always a treat to get it.

When I used to live in NC I loved CFA and Bojangles (LOL)

Now I mostly only eat McDs because I live in a small town so there aren't many options. I love me some mcnuggets!

@Greentea: I'm with you. Fast food only on road trips, but even then we try to eat local food. We got a bean burrito for the girls from Taco Bell just outside Vegas because it was our only option and they were starving. That was in November.

I miss In N Out. Stupid Midwest! Burger King has amazing frozen lemonades, though. But I like CFA chicken and their lemonade, too. McDonald's for smoothies.

I think jimmy johns is probably my most frequented fast food stop, though!

    Chipotle

I also regularly crave and need real fish'n'chips but that's not a thing here. It is a sad thing indeed.

When I was pregnant I craved BK chicken sandwiches with cheese. I had severe morning sickness and for some bizarre reason they were one of the few things I was able to tolerate.

I like CFA, El Pollo Loco, and Chipotle.

Don't really do fast food much but I do like panera and CFA. Don't like CFA political views but their chicken is tasty. Chipotle is too spicy for me but I loooooooooove their chips and guac. Oh man is that yummy!

I could go on and on about CFA! If ours didn't have a drive thru it would be tragedy! My kids love to go inside as a special treat. Extra special treat and they get a cookie!

@Mrs. Jacks: I kind of think of CFA as local. Although they are franchised, they're independently owned and operated by a local typically.

The owner of the one in our town goes to my church...I've always been surprised how much time/money/service CFA gives to the community!

In-n-Out (don't live close anymore, bummer!) CFA, Burger Fi, Shake Shack and Taco Bell.

  37. BSB

hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts

@matador84: I used to work for CFA and I know a bunch of friends who own CFA stores. CFA doesn't really do franchises. They are owned and operated by usually someone local. I was disappointed when the CEO or whoever that was that voiced his opinion on gay marriage. I can say that my friends who owns a CFA don't support the CEO's point of view. They all donate money back to the community and local churches based on their own religion. So some of them may very well support gay rights. So the views of the CEO was just his alone and not necessarily one of store owners.

Seattle just got 3 stores to open up here in WA state. Before the stores opened there were a lot of FB posts about people boycotting CFA. We were concerned if that would affect the stores grand opening. I spoke to my friends who a own CFA and apparently, there were numerous records broken at the stores here in WA.
I went there a few weeks ago and this is what the lines looked like. It was a month after the store opened and the 2 other stores in the area were already open. Just crazy. I was lucky to be in the drive thru lane and took about 20 minutes to place my order.

    Great. Now I'm craving CFA.

    papaya / 10343 posts

@bluestriped bee: local owners may not support the CEO's opinions but supporting CFA makes CFA corporate money and they do donate their money to hateful groups. Its such a bummer because CFA is so delicious! I really wish/hope corporate gets bought out at some point because I would love to eat there again!

    2. Chipotle
    3. Taco Bell - for the Mexican Pizza only!
    4. Chick-fil-a but whenever I want it, it's on a Sunday and they are closed!
