Did you wear your regular undies or mesh panties? I wore mesh panties with gigantic pads!

They sent me home with a huge stash of mesh, so I wore them for about a week, actually. I felt like I almost needed a graduation ceremony when I put my own undies on for the first time, lol

I would have worn the mesh panties if I was able to steal some for home! I was moved into a different ward after giving birth and no one knew where the panties where stashed!

Mesh panties for about 48 hours after I got home. With the huuuuge pads. Whenever this topic comes up I always think of the OMGMom saying she packed a thong thinking she would wear it home from the hospital and I just laugh and laugh.

Mesh the day home and the next day. Then I broke out the granny panties, made me feel more normal verses the mesh.

Mesh. I loved those things! I had to buy granny panties online bc the ones I have didn't fit the giant pads!!

@.twist.: oh honey, you don't know? They are gigantic panties made of mesh that you stick your gigantic pads to to catch all the yuckies that come out after you have your baby.
I too felt like I should have some sort of celebration when I finally put on real underwear. Boy shorts from Target were my best friends for months!

@Pink Champagne: haha! They sound so delightful! I've never heard of them although in 4 months I'm sure I'll love them as much as everyone else in this entire thread.
I had a moment of wondering when I'd get to wear a thong again, but I'm sure I'll be happier without a thong for a while.

I read on another site about ladies wearing Depends/Tena instead of the mesh ones. Anyone here done that? It sounds funny but I can only at this point imagine the mess.

I don't even know what mesh underwear is! I just wore normal undies - I bought some cheap ones from Target that I didn't care if I ruined and they were fine?

@MamaMoose: lol!!! I never realized how long it would be till I'd wear a thing again too.
@.twist.: I still have no idea when a thong will be okay but I'm starting to get used to VPLs!
Mesh! And I only knew of them because of HB! I kept asking for more because of these kinds of posts to hoard them! I think I still have almost a dozen pairs! But I had to wear normal underwear after a couple days home to feel normal again.

I needed to wear my own panties so that I could feel human again! I was not a fan of the mesh ones.

Mesh didn't work for me, kept falling off. I needed my regular stretches to hold the pads on tight!

Loved the mesh panties! I brought my own granny panties to wear but they were too tight up top.

@Springtime: same!
Bought granny panties but the top was tight and uncomfortable so it was mesh all the way!

My hospital was so stingy with the mesh panties. I had to beg the nurse to give me a fresh pair on my check out day.
I had a pack of old lady white high rise Hanes ones that I wore for the first few days and then switched to regular. I was wearing a pad for 8 week though so no thongs.

Stupid question about the mesh--it sounds like with all the PP "stuff" that comes out, what exactly is the point of the mesh? I know there are giant pads that catch all that but the idea of mesh sounds like it would just come through the mesh--or is mesh just that they are disposable? I have a few pairs a friend gave me that she couldn't use and I am all about doing whatever is the most convenient/most sanitary, but I guess I just don't "get" it.

@maybebaby: They're disposable and nice and stretchy. After giving birth, your tummy can be slightly tender, so they kind of hug your waist just right. They're also large enough to hold the large pads you need the first couple of days.
