I thought you were supposed to take prenatals as long as you breastfeed? I just took ibuprofen and colace afterwards with both of mine. After my second the nurses really pushed the percocet which I really did not like.

I had ibuprofen and acedominophen for pain and swelling, in addition to colace stool softeners. That was it. I was told I could keep talking my prenatals. .

I took Motrin for less than a week for inflammation. I also took and am still taking iron, colace, and a prenatal. I need the iron because I lost a good bit of blood after delivery and my hemoglobin level is low. The doctor told me it takes a while for it to raise again.

Just ibuprofen for a few days because of the episiotomy, and then continued taking prenatal while breastfeeding - I think it's recommended while nursing to keep your levels up.

I took colace, Motrin & Tylenol 3 (and Percocet while in the hospital)

I had a lot of back pain from pushing afterwards for a couple weeks.

Wow, my hospital and clinic don't give pain meds, just advil!

Just advil, tylenol, and my prenatals (I was told to take them until I was done nursing). I was given an rx for some sort of narcotic bc I had a c-section but didn't need it.

Ibuprofen (maybe for a few days), colace and prenatal.

Advil, Tylenol, prenatal, colasce.

A lot of ibuprofen. I had a pretty severe episiotomy and I hurt for a long time (still kinda tender at 11 wks pp!). In the hospital and at discharge I was also offered narcotics but I declined... they make me super nauseous. Took Colace and prenatal as well.

I had a c-section and developed post surgery anemia, so I was on Percoset, ibuprofen, colace and iron supplements. Oh, and prenatals.

Norco, Motrin, iron, prenatal and colace.

I had a high leak in my water and developed a bacterial in-uterine infection. During and after labor I had a 104 fever and was on every medication under the sun. It's hard for me to remember what they were giving me because there were so many pills! As far as strictly PP meds just for pain, though, I tried to switch to large doses of ibuprofen/tylenol as soon as possible because the vicodin was constipating.

Ibuprofen in the hospital and a dose of colace there too. Nothing at home except prenatals and vitamin D. My teeth were aching afterward and I read that post delivery your minerals are depleted and vit D specifically helps. My toothaches went away almost immediately!

After LO1 I went home with Norco, ibuprofen and colace. I took Norco once or twice at the hospital after LO2. When I asked for my Norco prescription on discharge the nurses reacted like I was an addict. I was just thinking about what I had the last time. I didn't want to fill a prescription for advil so I just got the colace.

As far as pain meds, I took Percocet in the hospital with my first since I had some bad tearing. With my second, just Motrin. With my third, mainly Motrin but I did take Vicodin once because my pp cramping was insane.

My OB said most pregnant women don't get enough iron so he suggested that I take iron in addition to my prenatal and to continue until I was done BFing.

I also took colace after delivery too.

Motrin and percocet as needed for about 3 days? Then I didn't need them. I found that the cramping was what was brutal for me.

And then at about days 8-10 PP, I would come down with these debilitating cramps in my lower abdomen. Like...lay in bed in hysterical tears because I didn't know what was wrong. And I would take a painkiller for those. No idea WTF it was but i assumed it was my organs going back into place a little, and perhaps some of it was due to some previous surgeries on my bowels/bladder that were causing pain as they settled.

With my first, I never used any pain meds, despite a second degree tear - I just wasn't in any discomfort, which was great! I did take a stool softener though as my midwives strongly recommended it, and I'm glad I did.

After my second, I took Advil for the first few days as the afterbirth cramps, especially during breastfeeding, with subsequent babies are seriously no joke! I'll be stocking up on Advil again this time as apparently those cramps get worse with each pregnancy.
