Just wondering what percentage of your household income goes to daycare. One of the best options [best price for the level of service] in our area is about 13% of our combined income and is 25% of my income! Thats a hefty chunk!

We have not officially selected our center yet, but the one we like the most (which of course is the most expensive one, d’oh!) will be just under 13% of our combined income for full time care.
The other daycare would be more like 8% of our combined income.

Our daycare is right at 20% of our combined income for full-time infant care. It sucks but for us it is the right fit.

Wow, just tried figuring it out. There are a lot of variables since I'm paid hourly and RJ's daycare has options to skip weeks in the summer (you only pay for what you schedule), but if I account for me working 4 days a week all year and him being full-time all year, it comes out to 13.7%.

It is about 25% of my take home (20% gross). If you add in my husbands income, its about 20%.

I'm going to answer this question hypothetically, since I've been researching daycare. At our current incomes, the daycare we would want would be 12.8% of our gross income. I'm hoping by the time we have a LO, if we do even decide to do full time daycare, that our incomes go up enough for it to be more like 10%.
