I was reading an article today about top schools in our area. Some schools that perform well normally were left off this list (US News Best High Schools) because minority and low income students weren't performing well enough.

Our area definitely has issues with low income and minority students struggling to keep up with their peers.

We also have issues with teacher pay. Many teachers in our state are either leaving the state or the profession all together due to low pay and an early burn-out rate.
