My husband already said he will be on my side (no view of birth) and not the receiving end (doctor side). I think he would probably pass out if he was on the other side. haha

Uhhh, oops, I hit the submit button on the poll before I entered poll choices. Now I can't figure out how to add choices to the poll. It won't let me do it. Hmmm...
Ok, if the poll was working, the choices would be...
On my side
On doctors side
Both
He wasn't in the delivery room
He doesn't want to be in the delivery room
Other

Our doctor put a mirror at the foot of the bed towards the end, as a motivation I think. So both ends of the bed were kind of the receiving end!

@MrBee. Okay, let's hope when we have kids they don't have the mirror. I think my husband would ask for the divider so he doesn't see anything. Although, for me, I think I would like to see some of it through the mirror.
ETA: Thanks Mr.Bee for fixing my poll!

Just added the poll... you can click on "edit" under the poll to change the options, I think?
Let me know if that works for you!

I definitely want my husband to be on MY side. I don't want him anywhere near down there when I'm delivering! I think he'd be scarred for life and wouldn't go near me again, haha!

@Mr.Bee- Yeah, I hit 'edit' under the poll and I still don't see my poll choices. That's weird.

I'll have to ask Hubs when I get home, but I'm almost positive he'll want to stay on my side! If they have a mirror set up, though, he may glance at that : )

as of right now, i'm planning to have a c-section, so my husband will probably be on my side.

Uh my side for sure, and I do NOT want to see a mirror.
There are some things that can never been unseen.

I just asked my husband and he said "Wherever is helpful and not in the way". He's very good
I don't mind if he wants to see the baby coming out. I figure all attempts at modesty are pretty much over once you're giving birth anyway.

I definitely want him on my side. I don't want him to see the birth and I need him by my side so I can squeeze the blood out of his hand!

Husband was on my left side during labor, but moved down next to my OB when it was time to push.

Definitely my side. He's even mentioned that he won't want to cut the umbilical cord (except I think he'll change his mind on that).

We gave birth at a birth center and you're allowed to be in any position you want for pushing. The bed was still the most comfortable for me and DH sat at my hip level so I could still hold his hand and have his support but so that he could still see everything that was going on.
He was great for the actual birth but had to leave the room when I delivered the placenta. (So much blood! and I wanted it inspected in front of me)

DH and I have actually talked about him doing the "catching" so we'll see... depending on what position I choose (water vs. birthing stool) determines what "side" he'll actually be on. =)

I thought hubs might want to catch the baby, but so far he seems to think he'll want to stay up near my head. I think when the time comes, he's going to want to catch the baby, but we'll see...

My hubby kept looking to see what was going on "down there." The nurse would say things like "you can see the head" and "she has brown hair" so he wanted to check it out. And then I would ask for details from him, I wanted to know everything from his view. They offered to give me a mirror, but it weirded me out too much to see for myself.

He stood by my side and held my hand. He looked down there a few times though.

DH said he doesn't want to see anything climbing out of my vagina. The decision was made.

I had a c-section and I pointed out te reflection on the ceiling so then he couldn't look away. Plus once our daughter was delivered she remained in the room in the warmer and that was passed the curtain so he was at both sides. I had told him I didn't want him to see anything, but that darn reflective ceiling threw me off

Oh god. My side for sure. The other day he mentioned lunch-talk with his work buddies (electrician) and his bud who has a newborn apparently showed DH how it happened by putting his hands together and just..well, scaring the hell out of DH apparently.
Like a PP said, I totally feel like that's one doodle that can't be undid, home skillet.
