Is it against straw cup law to hold milk without leaking? With every cup I've tried the milk just climbs the straw until it pours out of the top. Over and over again. I've used Zolis and Munchkin and Playtex cups. I've squeezed the straw. I've loosened the top. I've tightened the top. I've turned it upside down. I don't know what else to do, and it's driving me CRAZY!

haha I don't know! I've just been using take & toss and it doesn't leave meal times!

You aren't alone, drives me crazy too. The Tommee Tippee keep the milk in the best but H likes his whole milk from the Playtex straw cup.

Yup, all of our cups were leaky messes with milk! The Thinkbaby straw cup works the best for us...it still leaks but not as much as the Zoli!

@Weagle: Playtex straws we learned you have to start with the arrow in that range and spin until the arrow is in the range. If you do it exact (not too tight) it seems to help.

This is why we still use sippy cups for milk.

@artbee: This does seem like the most obvious solution, but LO won't drink anything from a sippy cup

Haha. M won't drink from a sippy, either, @weagle! I think she gets frustrated with them. The take and toss do seem like they would be good qualifiers if we ever did decide to try them again, though. The straw cups drive me bonkers.

@Weagle: yes they're very picky. My lo will only drink milk out of a sippy and water out of a straw. No milk in a straw and water out of a sippy.

Milk in the zoli..... such a pain but man she LOVES the zoli so much.... sigh.

Yeah, they all leak! We have 3 different types. We don't do sippy cups so we're stuck with the leakage.

I'm not sure this is a defect of the cup but more about science... As milk warms up, it forces the milk out of the cup due to pressure changes (similar to the straw cup leaking majorly on an airplane due to cabin pressure changes). I think some cups deal with this better than others, though. Those take n toss cups are the worst!

We just started whole milk in a straw cup with DS and this drives me nuts. We still do breastmilk in a straw cup though and it never leaks for us! I don't know why breastmilk doesn't leak though.

@T-mom - seriously!? This makes sense.
We've had better luck with the avent straw cups but it still can be a pain - especially outside in this warmer weather.

Has anyone tried those Lola straw cups (I think that's what they're called) for milk?

@theknest: yeah, unfortunately this is the end if my scientific knowledge so I can't offer any more info that this.
@creativemomma15: I think milk and breastmilk have different properties related to this however I'm not sure really what those are! -
@theknest: Lola isn't great either, don't buy it!

They all leak! I think I have 8 different sippy/straw cups in my cupboard right now and they all have something negative about each one. Someone needs to invent the ultimate sippy/straw cup like now!
