Curious because I saw that a nearby school starts almost an hour later than my kids' school.

My kids' school starts at 8:10. Last year's Covid schedule that shifted Kindergarten to a 7:50 start which seemed rough even though I used to drop them off at 7am pre-pandemic. Fortunately (ha!) I have painfully early risers and this year the kids have the same start time and same entrance gate.

Drop off is 8:30-8:50, school officially starts at 8:50. But last year, when hybrid, DD was part of the afternoon cohort so we didn’t have to be there until 12:30. And when they went back full time in April they shifted the start of the day by a half of an hour - so drop off was 9-9:20. DD is not excited about the earlier (but normal) time this fall.

DS's school starts at 8, but the other nearby elementary school in the same district starts at 9. They stagger start times because of bussing.

Elementary starts at 7:50 in our district and HS is latest. I am dreading it after doing virtual last year where they got up at 7:30 sometimes and rolled onto morning zoom in pjs still eating a waffle … none of us got up early! But now I’ll have to get them up at 6:30 again in 2 weeks when we start.

Classes are from 8:05 to 3:00.
DS gets on the bus at 7:00 so we're up early!

Drop off begins at 7:45, class starts 8:00. High schools have the latest start in our district.

@bhbee: Same! Between having a nanny and remote learning, the mornings were relatively relaxed. I'm dreading having to get myself and DD out the door by 7:15. And DH is responsible for getting himself and DS out the door by 7:45, but he was a few minutes late to school *quite* a few times pre-covid.

This year, our elementary school will start at 7:45. It used to be 8:00, but because of covid, they added extra time to the beginning and end of the school day this year to focus on helping kids catch up who weren't able to learn well during virtual school.

School starts at 7:55, ends at 3:45…long-ish days BUT we have 4 day school weeks (was like this precovid as well) which we really enjoy!
ETA: Bus comes at 7:15 or so, and they eat breakfast at school.

Elementary school starts at 7:45 here and they are done at 2:15. Middle school and high school are later.

School in my small rural town is 8:30-3. I work in a neighboring school district where elementary starts at 7:55, middle at 9:05 and high school at 8:30 (staggered for bussing).

@Chuckles: It is, we're on the edge of the district and the first one's on, so he has a 30 min. ride to the high school, switches buses, then goes to the elementary. Which if we drove straight there is about 30 minutes away.

@Corduroy: almost all of the schools in our county are 4 day week—there were definitely some logistics to work out but it has been awesome! Most people (and teachers) really love it.

Wow, ours starts at 7:30! I thought that seemed early and you all have proved me right lol they get out at 2 and have early release every Wednesday. She started kindergarten this morning!

@JennyLayneAZ: We have early release on Wednesday's also at 1. HATE it. There is no after-school care, and our daycare is not in the same district, so it's NOT fun finding help on those days.

@josina: that's gotta be tough. I'm lucky that our daycare is in our district, so she'll be taken care of by them before and after school every day including early release days. Our early release is at 11:55! I seriously don't know how families that can't/ don't use daycare do it! I swear, I feel like when I was in elementary school, we were at school from 8 until almost 4

My daughter's elementary school starts at 9:20 (that's when "Morning Bell Time" is, whatever that means). Not sure of the logistics of drop off or what time her bus will come yet.
The 1-12 school where I work opens the doors to students at 7:45.

Our elementary school starts at 8 and ends at 3. Early release one day a week at 1:30. We can drop off starting at 7:40. Works well for us. Middle school starts at 7:30 (anticipatory groan) and HS at 8:30 in our district for the bus issue mentioned above.

Our elementary school, and most in our district, starts at 9:15. Middle school is 8:00 and high school is 7:30. I know all the research says high school should be much later so I do hope we swap around at some point but for now I like our leisurely mornings.

We start late and go from 9:15-3:30. Thankfully we have before and after school care that my kids LOVE so they can get there as early as 7 am and get picked up as late as 6 pm. Now that DH and I plan on having more WFH days, we tend to drop off around 8 and pick up around 5.

Ours the gate open at 8:20, but school starts at 8:40 and gets out at 3:10 for elementary.

Elementary is 8:45-3:30, but they are exploring moving it earlier next year (so they can move HS later in tandem.

7:30-2:30, first day is Monday and I'm nervous about the early start! 7:30 is when *class* starts, they can be dropped off as early as 7:00 I think.
There are three schedules in my local area:
7:30-2:30
8:15-3:15
9:00-4:00
The times used to be a bit tighter, but, we had to close some schools and bus routes got longer as a result.
