@sorrycharlie: we basically had the same epidural experience. When I arrived at the hospital I was only 4cm dilated....after they gave me the epidural, 1 1/2 hrs later, they checked me and said, "oh no wonder you were in so much pain...you're fully dilated!" Wtf! 30 minutes of pushing later, our little man arrived!
