What cup did you start with? Did anyone start with a straw cup? How old was your LO?
My oldest used the playtex sippy and the tommee tippee ones. I need to buy new ones for DD2, who will start solids in a couple weeks!

we started with the playtex straw cup that you can squeeze so the liquid comes up. that seems to help them realize there was milk in there. now we're using lollacup which is my favorite straw cup for kids!

We skipped sippy cups and started using a straw thermos container out of the house and an open shot glass at home around 6-7 months.

We have always given open cups even from <6 mo. I would help her at first but by 9 mo she could drink from a rim on her own and place it back down. We've always been pretty strict BLW-ers

Zoli cup with water based on recommendations from fellow Bees. My LO was easily frustrated by the other straw cups because they seemed more difficult to get liquid through it, and the Zoli is super easy for babies.

We used the NUK training system but started with their "normal" sippy cup.

Take and toss straw cups at 6 months. I also used the Reflo cup, but he wasn't good with that one until around 8 months.

We used Nuby straw cups- she never liked sippy cups. Even now, we still use Playtex straw cups- they're great (and don't leak).

I used sippy cups for about a minute, but we both got frustrated with them quickly and moved on to straw cups. We used the same squeezy Playtex straw cup that @kodybear: mentioned, perfect for teaching her that liquid comes out of the straw.

looks like zoli is a winner! 6 months isn't too young? she lunged for, got and sucked on my contigo cup the other day, ha! so maybe not.

@sorrycharlie: What did you end up doing?
I have a sippy cup but I realize it's probably harder to use than a straw! If I put too lil water in, then she doesn't know how to hold it and tip it. If I put more water in, then it's heavy. DD is 7 mo and I'm probably gonna just go to straw now!

We started a b box (basically a zoli) and also a shot glass at the same time at 6 mo. Shot glass was only during meals so I didn't spend the entire time wiping up water!
