Hospital gown and nursing bra. I strangely like the super clean, freshly bleached smell of hospital (and hotel) linens.

Hospital gown both times. The first time I changed into one of D's Hawaiian tees pretty much right after. The second time I had a csection and didn't have a choice.

Hospital gown. I'm generally not a fan of them but during labor etc, I honestly didn't care.

Neither DH nor I can remember for the first one but I think I was naked. I'd been in the tub naked before that I know.
Second time I was in the hospital gown- I remember being on all fours in the bed and making DH hold it closed over my butt. I pulled it down for akin to skin when she was born.

I think I had a hospital gown and a nursing bra? Or maybe just the gown. Things get messy so I had no problem wearing the gowns.

I *think* I had a tank top & bra on? And also a hospital gown so maybe just a bra. I know they took my pants off when I was ready to push....

I started out wearing a strapless, stretchy, short sundress - easy access top and bottom, you see! At some point, the skirt got hitched up to my waist and the stretchy top bit fell down, and it ended up as a band around my middle! Classy!

@Torchwood: love this!
I ended up giving birth wearing a tee shirt with a logo of the band that caused DH and I to meet. Not planned, just the first thing my husband grabbed out of his laundry basket when I asked for a tee shirt to sleep in, and none of us though about me changing out of it until after I was hooked up to all the tubes...so on it stayed.
I smile every time I wear it now.

I showed up at the hospital in leggings and a long t shirt, and did most of labour in those. Then towards the end DH persuaded me to change into a cheap nightshirt that I had brought - so much more comfortable. I don't remember being offered a hospital gown at any point. I don't get the thing about ruining clothes with the mess - yeah the end bit was messy but there weren't any clothes in the business area by that point! I still wear the leggings and shirt from my labour regularly now!

@Bubbles: if your water broke while you were laboring you probably would have gotten pretty messy! For me I was just a sweaty mess and there was blood all over. Probably if I had a t shirt on it wouldn't have gotten that messy but then it would have been hard to do skin to skin. But to each her own! Like I said I'm pretty sure I was just naked the first time around.

I bought a labor dress. I don't even remember if I was still wearing it when I delivered. I think I was? In hindsight a hospital gown would have been fine. My hospital had special L&D gowns with ties at the shoulder so you could easily open the top for breastfeeding. I wore one for most of my hospital stay and only put on cotton sweatpants the last day to go home.
I thought I would care more about this, but when the time came I really did not care what I was wearing.

A pregnancy or nursing bra and one of my maternity shirts. Also some yoga pants and old socks (the socks usually end up tossed because my water usually ends up all over them).
ETA: Just took it off for skin to skin once baby was born. They then covered me in prewarmed blankets.

Our hospital gives you socks and a nice gown that buttons up the front and back, so skin to skin is easy after birth, I preferred it much more than ruining my own clothes.

I wore the hospital gown then changed after. I didn't see a point of dirtying anything I actually liked and wanted to keep. Wasn't a big deal to wear the gown.

With DS, hospital gown and hospital robes. Plus a sports bra. I brought my own things that I was ok getting bloody and gross, but in the end I liked the hospital gowns & robes more. So, this time around, I'm only packing a going home outfit for me in my bag, plus sports bras.

LO1 - a stretchy sports bra and the hospital gown. I was in the hospital a long time for the induction and wanted a bra.
LO2 - the hospital gown.

Hospital gown. I don't think I was wearing a bra underneath? It made skin to skin really easy. You really won't care what you're wearing when the time comes I brought h&m nursing tanks & yoga pants for afterwards.

@Autumnmama79: Like actually giving birth, or what did I show up to the hospital in? I wore their gown for the 5 days I was there and never put regular clothes on till it was time to go home.

Not a darn thing. I ripped all my clothes off the minute I walked into the hospital room! DD was born a little over two hours later. Haha!

2 hospital gowns, one forward one backward for coverage (their suggestion). Never occurred to me to want to use anything else.

A hospital gown. Later that evening after giving birth I changed into something more comfy and with better coverage.

Hospital gown! I stayed in it the entire time.
Next time I will wear my own clothes after I give birth, but definitely the hospital gown during delivery.

Hospital gown with nothing underneath. After hours of pushing I ended up with a c section. I didn't mind the gown and ended up wearing one the whole time. It was convenient for trips to the bathroom and nursing.

With DS, I wore a Pretty Pusher's gown. I had two nurses (very good cop, bad cop) and the "bad cop" nurse gave me such a hassle about it. They were very insistent that I wear the hospital gown. I'm pretty sure I threatened to leave at that point.
For DD (due on Saturday!) I bought a Gownie hospital gown that I plan to wear.
I hate hospital gowns. They give me the willies and, for me, wearing my own clothes made me feel like more of a person and much more comfortable. Creating my own environment in the hospital definitely helped me during labor.

Hospital gown. And I think I stayed in the same one for the next two days. It was probably covered in blood. Ugh. I'm sure it was only in the budget to give me one. Just like only one pair of mesh underwear 🙄

Yoga bra plus hospital gown plus long wooly socks that I forgot to take off.

Old Navy tank top and a sports bra. They told me that I "had to" wear a hospital gown, but I cannot stand things to be up around my neck. I flat out ignored them and changed into my own tank top as soon as the nurse left the room. Whatever. Someone made a comment when they came back in, but I also ignored that. I brought an open front sweater for while I was laboring but took it off later on, once I was hooked up to the IV for good.
