Even if you never plan to have a nanny, I'd love to hear what you would look for in one if you WERE to hire one. What would YOUR perfect nanny be like?

What would her personality be like?
Very fun and creative. I would want her to come up with fun ideas on how to interact with DS and create art projects, science-type projects and the like. She would seem mature and wise, VERY patient, practical and bubbly.
How old would she be?
Actually, kind of young. I wouldn't mind hiring a teenager if the schedule worked out. I like the idea of someone younger being with DS because she'd be more relatable and more "fun". Plus, since a nanny kind of becomes an extension of your family, I'd want her to be able to grow with us. I am a nanny, and my "family" was there for my wedding, pregnancy and now by baby's first year. It's extremely special to me that we are equally involved in each other's lives.
What would she wear to the interview?
Nice jeans (no holes/stains/paint), and a nice but not too casual top - maybe a blouse or dressy tee. Something that looks like she put thought into her outfit, but also that she's ready to be hands-on and play with DS
.
What would be the most important qualities you would look for?
Definitely creativity. I want DS to be stimulated and learn even if he's at home. Maturity for sure, especially if she is younger.
And patience. I have a hard time with patience so I respect patient people a lot more. I would never want her yelling or raising her voice at DS.
Oh, and ability to follow our parenting rules. Like, if we say no to yelling, ever, I'd need to know that she is respecting that rule. If we say no candy during the day, I don't expect her to try and be the "fun" nanny that breaks rules, or says to my son that his parents rules are silly or something of the like.
How much experience would she have?
A good amount, but not too much. Too much experience=$$. Perhaps experience in church nurseries, or babysitting. But i wouldn't necessarily require nannying experience.
Being a nanny, I think I would be so much more strict about what I want and expect. But it helps because I know EXACTLY what I'd want in a nanny.

TRUSTWORTHY and kind, patient....and doesn't talk a lot on the phone or to me...just does her job with love.
Older....grandma age
Speaks arabic!!!
She'd need experience with kids not in nannying.
Qualities: Needs to follow our parenting rules and rules regarding the home (take off shoes...recycle..)

Personality...I would want someone warm, bubbly, and trustworthy. Someone who I immediately felt a connection with, that I wish I had known all my life. Someone who will stick to my rules, but have a sense of humor. Someone who will let me know if I am being a little crazy or strict.
Age...I would want someone young between the ages of 21-24.
Interview... I would still want them to dress for an interview. Something that says I am ready to go, but that I want this job. It would be more than a getting to know you interview, I want to see them in action with my child. Is the chemistry there between the two of them?
Qualities...patience is key. But I would also look for creativity, how quick they are on their feet, and critical thinking skills. I want someone who can communicate with my DH and I well. I want the relationships to be seamless between the 3 of us. We want to know what happened that day, good or bad and some of the details. I also would like them to stick to their morals, someone my child could look up too as a role model.
Experience...I would want someone with a bit of experience. Preferably someone with day camp/counselor experience. They will have the ability to navigate a crowd and still pay close attention to my child. As well as being able to come up with games or crafts on the fly. I would also want someone CPR certified. Seeking a degree in early education would be nice but not a requirement.
The time I spent as a camp counselor taught me so much on how I can enrich the lives of children, that I would want my nanny to understand the important role they will play in our child's life.
