Did you buy your pump before you gave birth? How far in advance did you buy it? Did you use a hospital pump before opening yours to make sure you were able to pump?

I got mine as a shower gift from my sister. I haven't opened it up yet, but think I'll just use the hospital pump while in the hospital if needed.

I received mine as a combined shower gift from 4 friends a month before baby was due. I didn't open it until after LO arrived!

I bought mine a week after giving birth. I rented one from the hospital and liked it and then went and bought it.

I got mine about 2 months before my due date but never opened it. I left it at home when I went to the hospital (would have used a hospital pump if needed or sent someone home to go get it). Luckily I didn't need it until I got home but I was glad I had it available!

I bought mine around 32 weeks - used off Craigslist which saved me ~$200. I'm getting a new accessory kit (tubing, shields, etc.) so it's basically a new pump. I plan on taking it to the hospital so the lactation consultant can show me how to use it.

I'm waiting till after LO arrives. My insurance will cover half if I get a doctor's note.
I figure I'm not going to need it the first couple weeks so no rush.

I got mine right around my due date. (I think it came in the mail while we were at the birth center). We were lucky not to need it until I introduced a bottle at 4 weeks. But I was glad to have it just in case. I didnt want to open it until I needed it in case I had to return it, but it would have been nice to read the directions ahead of time.

Mine was a shower gift from my BFF so I had it for a while. I used it during early labour to help bring on contractions and use it every day now so that hubby can give her a bottle before bed and to build up my freezer stash.

I bought mine a few weeks after having the baby. I had heard so many stories about people not being able to breastfeed, I was really afraid I would not be able to. I also bought a small manual pump which was great to use at 3am when I had excess milk but didn't feel like getting hooked up to a big machine.
