I've heard that the 4 to 6 week mark is the magic place where BFing somewhat becomes habitual and normal and routine...
I think we've been lucky for the most part... but every day is different... still looking forward to the "ease" of bfing...

It got a lot easier at one month but my true groove was at 4 months...when I went back to work. I was sad that I spent so much of my maternity leave pumping...maybe my groove would have come sooner.

8 weeks! I got a blocked duct > mastitis > thrush at 6 weeks.

6 weeks was so much better than even 4 weeks for me! @sorrycharlie: did your thrush go away? I remember when you got diagnosed...

@T-Mom: yes thank god i did the nystatin & diflucan and was a nut about sterilizing and washing!

Six weeks
...but then I got mastitis.
So I would say a solid 8 weeks.

3 weeks? I remember being in a groove, then the 6 week growth spurt hit, and I was thrown for a loop. She nursed SO MUCH! It was by far the worst growth spurt for us.

My baby didn't breastfeed until day 5 of her little life, and from then on it was really easy for us. Reading all the stories here, I see how lucky I got with that.

For me it got much easier at 4 weeks and it has only gotten easier and easier since then (DS is now 8 weeks).

I would say at about 4 or 5 months. And that was while being a SAHM and breastfeeding round the clock. I never enjoyed it and neither did WJ. I'm so much happier being an exclusive pumper. But that's just us... I have heard the 4-6 week mark as well for other moms.
ETA: but when we hit that groove, it became REALLY easy.

For my first child it was an instant success, it was so easy I loved it! However that just made it that much more discouraging when my second had a bad latch, I got a cracked nipple and I dreaded breastfeeding the majority of the first 2 weeks!

I'm not sure when it was, but it got much easier as his head control improved. I agree with @Weagle, growth spurts can be torturous. I feel like we regress a little when he goes through a growth spurt.

We're still working on getting into "the groove" but it definitely got easier with DS around 9weeks.

8 weeks today and still no groove! We missed that magical moment at 6-8 weeks where it all gets better...

I never made it to that point....at 6 weeks it was still very stressful so I switched to pumping.

8 weeks for discomfort-free and easier, around 6 months for actually enjoying it. At 6 weeks I was still crying to my mom over the phone about how hard it was. For me, the more strength and head control he gained, the better it got.

Around 4-6 weeks is when I really started to feel like i knew what I was doing

Elliot is 9 weeks and we still haven't found it. We've overcome a lot of hurdles though and we're still trying! I was so disappointed when the "magical" 6 week milestone hit because sooooo many people have told me that's when it gets easier but that just wasn't the case for us.

4 weeks was when it clicked for us and it has been getting easier every day since (mostly). she has a really good deep latch now and can find it herself if she unlatches herself. today she unlatched early and i was distracted doing something else for a minute and then i suddenly felt her sucking again! very pleasantly surprised by that.

@hilsy85: I'm so sorry...you will get there. You're so amazing for sticking to it-honestly:)
It stopped hurting me at 7w & it's been getting better & better every day. If anything, I have supply issues now:/ not nipple issues...but we're still happy:)

@hilsy85: @Running Elley: I really hope it gets better for you ladies! You're amazing for sticking with it.

@TurtleDoves: @mrskc: thanks ladies I'm hopeful that by 12 weeks, we will have it down!

@mrskc: Thanks!!! Luckily parts have gotten better! The pain for me is almost gone and definitely at a manageable point. Now we're just dealing with Elliot's feeding fits which take more of a mental toll than anything. I'm being stubborn!

It got easier around 12 weeks. But I still don't enjoy it 90% of the time. DS is almost 9 months old.

8 weeks and 2 days in and I can officialy say that I'm finally feeding pain free! LO still clicks like crazy when feeding and has plenty of spit-ups but being able to enjoy rather than dread feeding is such a great feeling.
