DS is 10.5 months and I haven't given him any. The past two ped appointments I forgot to ask her when I could try it and she hasn't mentioned it either. She said she doesn't recommend waiting past a year for allergen foods (like eggs) but I'm not sure about nuts!
My SIL feeds her 8 month old nut butters, but who knows if her ped actually OKed it or not.
Did you wait until a year to give peanut butter?

Technically it was 10 months because he got a hold of my PB sandwich, but his pedi's recommendation for peanut butter (and honey and shellfish) was one year.

We waited until a year only because my brother has a peanut allergy. We gave him some small bits of peanut butter over the weekend (he's 12.5 months).
However, he did eat things like pesto with pine nuts or dried fruit that came from a bag that had nuts in it. That was maybe around 9-10 months (we didn't realize it until after the fact).
ETA: our pedi said whenever we try it out, just make sure to have children's Benadryl on hand just in case.

I gave dd a taste of peanut butter before she turned 1.. DS hasn't tried it yet at 10 months old.

after he turned one. not on purpose though, i just didn't think of peanut butter as something to give him! once he tried it though, there was no going back! he looooved it.

DD had peanut butter around 10 or 11 months. The only thing we were vigilant about not giving her before a year was honey. I'm allergic to shellfish so we don't ever have it in the house but it never crossed my mind to not give her any if we did have it.
A lot of the new research seems to say that the earlier one introduces foods that could potentially cause an allergic reaction, the less likely they are to develop an allergy. Still though, if you're unsure, I'd ask your ped!

@MamaJ: From what I've read, yes, it does include nuts. I think they were talking about peanut butter as early as four to six months! To me, that's too early, but once LO started eating finger foods, I gave her some peanut butter on toast.

I was at an intro to solids workshop yesterday with a dietician and she said it's ok to give them nut butters as early as you start finger foods, so long as there is no family history of allergy.

We have no known allergies, and even still our pediatrician said to wait a little bit longer at his 12 month visit.
I figure I'll give him a taste of peanut butter in the waiting room before his next appointment, just in case. I'm not kidding.

We haven't given J peanut butter yet. He's 16 months old, our godson has a peanut allergy and I'm terrified of it now. It was a really scary day.

At about 11.5 months. We had no problems with it! I probably won't wait that long for LO #2.

We introduced nuts pretty early...around 8 months. My son loves homemade larabars (dates + any nut + coconut + vanilla ground up and rolled into balls). We only held off on introducing honey until a year.

Just yesterday! (12m) WE split a pb&j sandwich. So far no signs of an allergy.

Our ped gave us the okay to introduce at 12 months. I was overly paranoid, and waited till this week to introduce actually (LO just turned 14 months). We are on day 2, and so far, no signs of an allergy.
