When, what, and how much?
LO is 8 months and i gave her some tiny bites of clementines. I think they are less acidic than oranges so i thought it was okay. She seemed to really like it!

I think I gave her a little bit around 7 months. We don't keep them in the house regularly, but when we do have them, she seems to really enjoy them.

We tried to hold off until about a year, and recently have been giving her clementines. I may have tried them earlier but they were not in season then. It seemed like she got a very slight diaper rash the first time, possibly from the acidity, but it hasn't continued to be a problem. It probably depends on how your LO tolerates them.

LO is 16 months and we gave her tastes of orange juice when she was less than a year (maybe 10 months?). We recently started giving her segments of clementines or oranges and she tolerates it - nothing compares to blueberries according to her.

@MamaCate: I had no idea the acidity could cause a diaper rash! I guess i'll have to keep an eye out for that...

@caffeinated: rash is probably a strong word. she was just a little tiny bit pink/red, which never happens, and we are guessing it was from the clementines. she is also teething so that could be contributing. we laid off for a day or two and now she has maybe one every 2-3 days and it has not continued to be a problem....i hope it is not a problem for you--the clementines are so much fun for LOs!

8 months? We didn't delay giving them citrus, our dr. told us it was fine anytime after 6 months.

The first food my baby ever picked up and tried was an orange before 5 months - she just sucked on it and gleed at the taste. She started eating them in earnest recently, at about 13 months. She loves them, she'd eat three or four oranges a day, but they give her a diaper rash if we're not careful. So she gets one, and changed promptly afterwards.

@sarac: whoa, 3-4 oranges are a lot, even for a citrus lover like me!
@Mrs. Bee: did you limit the amount she ate at all?
@Mrs. Superhero: our doctor didn't specify delaying foods such as berries and citrus, but i see it on websites so i wasn't sure. of course, i ignore other specifications he gave me, like no meat until 10 months!

7 months. That's when the citrus in our backyard came into season. He goes back and forth on if he really likes it or not, but some of the tangerines can be rather tart, so I think that may be part of it. He does like fresh squeezed juice though.

@caffeinated: today she ate 1 1/2 clementines which was the most she's eaten. she's never eaten more than 1 clementine at a time, so i haven't limited it.

9 mos, he can't get enough GRAPEFRUIT?! He thinks pears are tart but he loves GF?! Go figure!

@caffeinated: Yeah, she's hilarious. She'd also eat a pint of blueberries every day if I let her. Girl loves her fruit. That's going to serve her well her whole life, I hope.
