At what age did your LO first have fish and what kind? I want to give my LO tuna she will be 12 months next week. Just wondered when other moms introduced it

My LO ate a couple bites of sockeye salmon the other night; she's just turned 10 months.

I gave E tuna for the first time last week at 10.5 mo. old. Chunk light tuna has lower mercury levels than some of the other varieties. He wasn't really a fan though.

@yoursilverlining: @kiddosc: Oh ok cool... did you mix it in with anything?

My daughter had tuna for the first time this week. She loved it (well, it was a tuna melt, so I think she just loved the cheese). She had flounder about a month ago.

@mrsjazz: haha.. my baby loves cheese too but she isnt a fan of melted cheese... Is your baby able to chew it? For some reason my baby only wants raw shredded cheese

M LOVES fish! She had her first taste of daddy's smoked salmon at around 7 months and it's by far her favorite food. We make fish for her often bc it's a good source of protein & iron.

@Mrsbells: I gave him some leftover tuna casserole. So it had noodles, peas, mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup in it.

@kiddosc: oh cool thats sounds yummy.
@regberadaisy: Oh I see you just mix it in with her regular meals?

@Mrsbells: yup, we eat fish often so I'll just give her that with whatever else we're having. Or I cut up a fillet into smaller portions for the evenings when there's no leftovers to pack for her lunch. Or for a quick lunch for her & I on Saturdays.
I made this 2 Saturdays ago for our lunch.

I gave him salmon I'd made for dinner around 7 months.

18.5 months but I don't think we are a good judge of when to introduce foods :). We used wild caught Alaskan coho salmon for it's lower mercury and contaminant content. These sites helped me determine which fish to go with since he would be eating it more frequently (has been refusing since December though and salmon is the only fish he has had):

Wild Alaskan salmon and fresh sardines are among the safest.

@Mrsbells: We didn't mix it in with anything, but it did have a little tiny bit of BBQ sauce on it. She loved it, and it was easy to eat since it flakes so nicely. We eat a lot of fish (like, several times a week, usually) so I want to get her started on fish

My son loves salmon! We have it about once a week at home and he pretty much eats what we eat. He tried it probably around 9 months and he's 11 months now. We sometimes just do a simple pan fry in olive oil/salt/pepper and he seems to like that.

9.5-10 months... I don't really remember. She kind of just ignores it when we put it on her plate.

@Mrsbells: Mine doesn't like melted cheese either! I gave fish at 8 months. She likes salmon and halibut, dislikes tilapia, and loves the white fish (no idea what kind of fish it is) in congee.

7.5 months; salmon. He f*ckin LOVED it...the mess under his highchair was certainly minimal that time!
