E is 9 months old. I want to give him larger pieces of banana, toast, or something like a whole green bean, foods the size of an adult finger. That way he can hold on to them and get them in his mouth, he can't pick up small pieces and put them in his mouth very well. DH is VERY against this because he thinks E will choke.

He had his 9month Dr. appt today and I had DH ask about it (I have to work and couldn't go) fully expecting them to support me, but they didn't! They said only to give him very small pieces of food and to give him puffs so he can practice picking up the small pieces and putting them in his mouth.

All the people at my doctor's office are super nice, but I really think their methods are somewhat outdated. They told us to give him cereal and start purees at 4 months according to AAP and when I told them the AAP guidelines say 6 months now, they were totally surprised.

Ugh, E is going to be eating purees forever, since I'm pretty sure DH won't let him eat real food until he has a full set of teeth.
