J is nearly 18 months and definitely still struggling with it and I feel so bad when he gets so frustrated! He is trying so hard but still hasn't figured it out. We give him a fork at one meal a day usually.
When did your toddler learn to use a fork?

Hmm, around 16 months maybe... But not efficiently until more recently. She's much better at using a spoon!
We let her use a fork or spoon at every meal and encourage her to feed herself. Cheerios in milk for breakfast, for instance, really helped her figure out how to use a spoon! It helped her figure out how to use a fork.
The metal forks are much easier than the plastic ones, too. I found mine at Target. I think Nuby makes them!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yeah he usually just uses one of our forks. Sometimes when he is doubly frustrated, he'll put the food on his fork. But he holds it wrong - so it often falls off while he's bringing it to his mouth! Poor kid!

@Mrs. Pen: C still does that at 22 months! I wouldn't worry. I don't mind the mess... It's half the fun of learning!

She is 15 months now and pretty good at it. Not perfect but 75% of the time it makes it to her mouth. We give her a real fork and usually only give it when there are chunkier things on the plate.

LO has been "using" a fork since she was 15 or 16 months, but at almost 22 months, she still doesn't use it well. We give her a fork and/or spoon (depending on what she's eating) at every meal and encourage her to use it, but she still uses her fingers a lot. Agree with @Mrs. Jump Rope, metal forks are much easier than plastic. It's definitely one of the things I don't worry about - I've never really heard of a child who didn't eventually figure out silverware

We started him on a fork and spoon just after a year. He's really good at the fork and is doing fairly well with a spoon. He usually uses both hands with the spoon, though. I ordered a metal child's set to encourage him to eat more and it did help some. He's almost 16 months.

At 14 months she knows the concept but still thinks its easier and faster to shovel the food in with her hands! I will try and help her once in awhile but not overly concerned about it.

Majority if the time we load the fork for him, at 15 months. He's good at getting it in his mouth when it's preloaded. He's still not that great at getting food ok the fork by himseld
