My LO snatched the spoon from me last night and actually got it into her mouth. I continued to put food on it, handing it back and she would get it into her mouth more times than not. She just turned one so I'm not going to attempt this quite yet other than for fun but it got me curious when your LO started to use utensils with most meals.

My LO is 19 months and has been using them a long time, but only about half the meal. She'll get impatient and put down the fork and use her hands.

Pre-loaded from maybe 8-9 months? At 12 months she can get things on a spoon or fork herself and get it in her mouth but she doesn't eat a whole meal that way (would take foreverrrrr!) she usually just tries it out a few times in between using her hands!

Before a year. She was very insisting and would take ours. So we just gave her one and she figured it out and she's used it ever since. She still looks ridiculous with full sizes utensils. Hardly eats with her hands now

My LO is 14 months and getting pretty good with a spoon. She can finish about half a yogurt or some cottage cheese (sticky foods) but it isn't fast enough for her liking so she'll throw the spoon and finger eat the rest. She can also somewhat use a fork by stabbing at the food until a piece actually sticks.

1 is old enough to experiment. Dd still sometimes refuses to use utensils at 2.5 although she can use them. She took awhile to learn, though. She didn't get really effective at forks til 2 (spoons closer to 1), and she still makes a pretty big mess eating.
