We still use at 3. He also sits on stools sometimes and has never fallen salt bough I put him up and down.

We still have it out for DD at 2.5. She prefers to sit in the stools now, and can actually get down herself (counter height), but they do have backs and are very sturdy. I think she feels too confined in the high chair most of the time.

We still use it at three years. We have the tripp trapp, it's adjusted so that she climbs up and down herself. Love that thing.

I'd try a strap on booster with a stool.

Wow I'm surprised some of your older LOs will still sit in one! We stopped using one around 18 months and either use her kids table and chair or she eats at big table in booster seat.

@NovBaby1112: agreed! Although I hated our high chair. If I had a Tripp trapp we would probably still be using it.

We stopped using it right around 2ish. LO likes to sit at the barstools (that have backs) at the counter.

He stopped wanting to sit in it maybe a month ago at 23 months. Now he just sits in the regular chair at the table.

She wouldn't sit in around 21 months. Sometimes she uses her booster seat and others she just sits in the chair.

Do you have kid size table & chairs she could use instead?

One of the RIE chapters I was reading talked about not using high chairs at all. Once LOs can support themselves it was suggested to feed them at their own kidsize table. The book mentioned babies like to feel the ground under them and be able to move away from the table on their own. Just a thought

@sapphire: unless one or both parents sits with them too. Depending on when dinner takes place for the kid vs when parent arrives home mealtime may not be family time anyway.

We typically eat on the floor or couch, so a set up like this would totally work in my house.

We are 4 now but we were using a high chair until when he was 3+ years old. We just didn't have a good solution before that because of how our house was used to be. Then we went under a major kitchen and first floor remodeling when he was 3+ and we ditched the high chair then. He was just eating at our temporary "dining station" at a coffee table we set up on the 2nd floor guest bedroom with the rest of us. Haha.

When remodeling was done, we have a beautiful island and we bought these chairs. I can not praise them more:

It is sturdy, easy to clean/wipe, not outrageously expensive, and he climbs up and down all by himself to eat at the kitchen counter! I shopped and shopped and this is the best. If he starts to come up and down during mealtime and just won't focus on eating, I have a booster seat and if I put it on this kitchen stool, put him on and scoot him close to the counter, he won't be able to come down. hahaha. So look into it and see if it works for you!

@oliviaoblivia: glad to hear it's still working for you, we love our TT. Any advice on how to clean the straps?

@youboots: ugh. The straps are the one thing that drives me nuts about it.... But it would be worse with other chairs. Sometimes I fill a bowl with warm water and oxyclean and rest it on the seat and get as much of the straps submerged as possible.
When I'm ambitious I take the side support off and wiggle the straps off and give them a full soak.

As annoying as that is, I still bought two more chairs so it wasn't a big deterrent.

LO is almost 2.5 and still sits in her high chair. She calls it "my chair" and actually really likes it so I don't see us moving her out of it anytime soon.

At 2.5 she has decided she wants to sit in a regular chair which works fine for me because I will need our high chair for DD2 in a couple of months. I'll get her the oxo tot booster , I like that it's portable

We skipped the high chair and opted instead for a booster seat (with tray option). Now that she's older she eats at the table without the tray. It has been a great option for us, given our smaller living space!
