W weaned herself at 19 months. ( I was so sad. It happened quickly.)
Still nursing M at almost 9 months.

Interested to see the responses. C is 12.5 months and I can't picture her ever self weaning. Hopefully she does it though!

I nudged her to wean at 15 months. I just didn't offer one morning and she never looked back. She was definitely ready. I was just testing the waters to see what she would do but it turns out she was ready.

DS weaned himself 1 week before his 1st birthday. I was 5ish months pregnant and often wonder if my supply was tanking and if that had anything to do with it. He was an absolute nursing fiend, and it seemed like all of a sudden over the course of a few weeks, he just didn't need/want it anymore. It was bittersweet for sure.

DD never self-weaned so I decided it was time to stop at 28 months.
DS self weaned at 10.5 months without warning I pumped until his 1st birthday.

i also want to see the responses.
LO is 21 months and even though i am missing more evenings than usual this week and last, he still asks every morning and when i am home in the evening. I am planning to stop offering shortly after he turns 2 and see what happens.....but the thing is he often asks now before i offer and i don't see that changing.

I offered her almond milk 4 days ago and she didn't ask for a day and a half then I went with it. So, now at 27.5 months. Wwwaaaaahhhhhh.
I honestly did not think self weaning would happen for us. She was ALL about nursing until she suddenly wasn't.

She didn't. She asked for it every day for two months after I stopped. I honestly don't think she would have self weaned.

Still nursing at 14 months with no sign of stopping, I really dread the day she weans, I will miss it!

I decided to just not offer one morning. LO didn't even seem to notice. I was a little sad at first, but I'm pregnant and he's been dry-nursing for about a month now. Which is so painful! So I just went for it. It couldn't have gone better, I don't think.

I'm also interested in this. I'm pretty sure that my son is not ever going to self-wean at this point (he just turned 2). His ped, DH, and most of my mom friends seem to think the same thing. I was really hoping he would self-wean, but now I'm wondering how and when I'll decide to stop it myself...?
I've tried cutting down or out nursing sessions in the past and it has DEFINITELY been noticed and not happily accepted...

she didn't! i slowly started offering almond milk at feedings and then saying mama's milk was all gone. she did really well!

B weaned himself at 13 months. I kind of forced it more with E at 16 months to TTC.

16 months, I had still been nursing 2-3 times per day at that point, and one day I offered and he said no, and that was it. We were done and he never asked again.

14.5 months. I was 8 weeks pregnant, which could be part of why he weaned.

LO is 9 mos right now and is not nursing nearly as much as normal the past few weekends (takes bottles at daycare during the week, nurses on weekends/when we are together). The past two weekends I've had to pump! Ughhh. LO will nurse briefly in the am upon wake up and briefly before bed but that seems to be it... I was thinking it was a strike but now it's been 2 weeks so I'm wondering if it's weaning??? Seems young though....

Around 13.5m for us. One day he quit his night session and 2.5/3 weeks later his morning session. He never asked again and he was an avid nurser. (I was pregnant though so it might have contributed).

They do self-wean at some point. They just do. It's like toileting, which is a really gross comparison, but there you go.
Ellie was five. She decided she was big enough to be done. Lorelei is 2.5 and fairly similar to Ellie at that age, though she nurses less than Ellie did when we are out.

DS is nearly 15 months, and I think he would self wean if I didn't offer He's too busy!

18 months. we were down to one session. we were visiting my mom who has a cat and she was more interested in going to find the cat than nursing so I let that be it.

At 8 months, but I was 4 months pregnant at that point and I think he didn't like the change in the milk's flavor.

19 months. He started skipping feeds and then eventually, even when he did want to feed, there wasn't much there. He got a bit frustrated and just gave it up. We were on vacation and out of our routine, so I think that was the final straw.

11 months. He was using a bottle at daycare- and I think he liked that more.
