@bluestriped bee: How are they doing with solids? Are they on 3 meals a day with 2 snacks? I had DS totally transitioned off of bottles by the end of 12 months. And I was the holdout on his last bottle - it was so much easier doing a bottle in the morning that he could hold himself, than it was to sit down and feed him a real breakfast.
My big fear about bottles was that he'd get too attached to them. Anecdotally, it seems like people have a harder time if they wait til 15 or 18 months. DS never even noticed they were gone. In your situation I might start out with the formula in sippies at meals so they can still benefit from it.
