8 days PP and my nipples hurt so bad every time she latches. When does this start to get better? I don't remember with my son it hurting so bad!

Sorry!! Mine got much better after about a week and a half. I switched off and on with coconut oil and lanolin and kept them uncovered whenever possible.

With DD1, the pain lasted about four weeks, now with my second DD2, it lasted about two weeks. LO is three weeks now and they're still a little bit sore but not super painful anymore. I used lanolin a couple of times but what really helped me was expressing some milk after each feed, rubbing it in and then letting them air dry. Good luck, it definitely gets better quicker the second time around!

Really bad for 2-3 weeks and seemed like it would never get better bc it's not like it's a little less painful each day. It's so bizarre, but it's like you want to punch someone in the face when the baby latches and you're sure you can't keep doing it and then almost like magic the baby latches and suddenly it's not so painful. After 4 weeks it was like I couldn't remember the pain

Jack Newman's All Purpose Nipple Ointment helped me immensely. I wish I had gotten some sooner. Honestly though, my nipples hurt for a long time. It got better each week, but the pain was still there until about 8 weeks pp. I'm 6 months in now, and love BF but the first couple of months were awful. Hang in there!

Lanolin and ice packs!! I think for me it was better at 4 weeks and no longer painful at all around 8 weeks. Good luck! It's so hard in the begging but so much easier a few months in!

With #1 it took forever. But sigh #2 it died down just before 2 weeks!

Highly recommend APNO and Motherlove Nipple Cream (I'm not a fan of lanolin and neither is my LC). For me it took 8-9 weeks, but I had severe nipple trauma, so that's not the norm! I hear for most people it's WAY better by 6 weeks,

@heartonastring: agree with all of this, right down to the timeline for things getting better

Pain went away 6-8 weeks for me. APNO was the only thing that helped them heal.

I think mine took about 2 weeks! I used motherlove nipple cream and had to use a shield with 1 nipple because it was more tender than the other and I would cry every time he latched. I would say we had it all under control within a month.
