when did you first give (or plan to give) your LO peanuts or peanut butter?
i've heard about waiting 1 year, but have also heard 6 months, and then our pediatrician said 2 years! i have no idea what to think.
my friend told me that she drove to her pediatrician's office and gave her LOs their first taste of peanut butter while sitting in the parked car, in case they had an allergic reaction. i hadn't thought of that idea, but am probably paranoid enough to do it.

I gave my LO a peanut butter sandwich after he turned 1. He had an allergic reaction with redness and itchiness around his mouth. An allergy test confirmed the peanut allergy, and he is still allergic today at 2 years old. I would also recommend giving your LO a taste before a doctor's appointment. I'm not sure if they would have an epi-pen on hand but will be able to administer Benadryl.

I will definitely wait until at least a year. I"m sooo paranoid about this and now, I can totally see myself driving up to the hospital parking lot before giving them a bite! Call my crazy, but peanut allergies are scary!

LO's first taste of peanuts in any form was around 14.5 months?

She had peanuts at 2. That night she got hives...... but we don't know if it's that or something else so the doctor said since it wasn't life threatening to give her peanut butter and see what happens, and she's fine with peanut butter.

My daughter has eczema and had a milk protein intolerance as a baby so the doctor said she would also have a higher chance of having other food allergies. So we waited until 2 years old to give her peanuts right before her pediatrician's appointment and yup, allergic. She is now 3 and still allergic. We carry an epi-pen everywhere.

It didnt come up during allergy testing plus he already owns an epi-pen.

He managed to get my PB sandwich off of the table and take a huge bite of it when I was in the bathroom at around 10 months, so then, but not intentionally.
He didn't have a reaction, though, so I've given him peanut butter a few times since. His pedi said 1 year, unless we had severe nut allergies in the family and then to wait until 2 years.

If my kids had any signs of being allergy prone (eczema, mspi, other food sensitivities, etc), I would have waited quite awhile. But since they don't, I gave them some pb on rice cakes right around 1 year. I gave them sunflower butter around 9 months though.

We tried peanut butter at 9 months. I understand the latest studies show that early exposure to allergens may decrease incidences of allergies to those foods (and my ped agrees with those studies), so we have been doing earlier exposure - so far we've done strawberries, eggs, peanuts. Still need to do other nuts and shellfish. So far so good, fingers crossed for the rest!

my pediatrician said not to worry about introduction of potential allergens.
ETA she said the only foods to avoid were honey (botulism risk i thonk?) and whole milk (but that's a digestion issue.)

Wow, it seems like doctor's advice really varies. Ours wanted us to wait as long as possible with all potential allergens, even though we have no history of allergies in our family. We ended up introducing peanuts just after 1 year, and our daughter was totally fine.

Since we have no family history of allergies our pediatrician said to go ahead whenever we wanted. Just don't give him a peanut butter and shrimp sandwich 
If we give him something that could be an allergen we make sure to wait a couple days before we give him something else that is a known allergen. Luckily he hasn't shown any food allergies yet.

I have a severe peanut allergy so we're waiting until at least 1 year.. I'm a little paranoid about this, so I'll probably bring it with us to her 1 year or 18 month appointment.

our doc/well child nurse/midwife had no recommendations, so I gave him his first peanut butter (he just sucked it off my finger) a week after he turned one, mostly because I'm a scardey cat who didn't want to deal with a reaction, so I waited for a day that DH was home just in case!
the look on LOs face was PRICELESS. "WTF is this sticky stuff OMG SO GOOD. I can haz MOAR???" so i obliged and gave him a peanut butter sandwich. i've never seen him eat a sandwich so fast

Our ped said 2 yrs but she got into the peanut sauce at a Vietnamese restaurant when she was about 17 months. No rxn so I'm very thankful!

We weren't given any advice, other than to hold off on honey for the first year. Beyond that, it was up to us when we decided it was right to introduce various foods to LO. She had peanut butter around 10 months with no issues as well as eggs and strawberries. I wasn't really that paranoid about food allergies to be honest. And I think (please someone correct me if I'm wrong!) that the first time you have an allergic reaction to a food, it tends to not be super severe, but subsequent exposures to the food are more likely to cause a severe reaction.
