My contractions have been so painful they are taking my breath away or making me scream. However, they have been one hour, then 10 minutes, then 24 minutes, then 6 minutes apart!!
More false labor? How painful can false labor really be?

I had a few episodes of painful false labor contractions that never progressed to regular timeable contractions. However I had to be induced at 41 weeks and wasn't dilated at all until the pitocin kicked in. My real contractions were drug induced coming rapidly and I had double peaks so those were crazy painful. I hope things progress naturally for you!

That happened to me during the weeks leading up. I would have a few real painful contractions for an hour and then it went away.

Mine were about 9-10 minutes apart at first, but it didn't fluctuate that much. Maybe 10 minutes apart, then 12, then 8. Nothing like an hour. Mine also weren't painful at first (basically period cramps), so I could've been having them long before I noticed that there was a pattern.

I had false labor that was fairly painful but nothing compared to "real" labor. That said, my actual labor started with 3 or 4 very irregular contractions that were extremely strong. Like I was walking and had to grab onto a shelf to steady myself and I almost threw up. I had one, then an hour later another, then 1/2 hour later another and then maybe another hour or 45 minutes. Then they started getting closer and more regular... like 8-10 minutes apart.

My contractions NEVER got regular - from the time they started (9pm Friday) until I delivered (1130pm Saturday) they were so sporadic - 10 min, 10 min, 4 min, 6min, 2min, 3min, 8min etc etc.
I remember being so scared that they were going to send me home because they weren't regular but they were SO PAINFUL. My mom assured me that if I was in that much pain I was in labor and I would be having a baby soon. Luckily she was right!

Exciting! I had bh for a week and then when rl started they just came on me at 5 minutes apart. General guidelines did not apply to me. (My labor was not short either-17 hours unmedicated - ouch!) Sounds promising for you today good luck!
