Hey hive!
I'm so excited that I will be teaching a course at a local community college, but I need to find childcare. It isn't enough money or time to warrant daycare, so I just need a sitter. We have no family here, so we need to find a sitter. But where? All I can think of is care.com. Has anyone had success else where?

We found our nanny on care.com but our other babysitter through people on Facebook.

@MrsH: did you go with someone from Facebook? Did you ask for references? Gosh it's scary trusting someone with my kids!

@MamaBehr: I did - so many people wanted to do it I actually had to tell several people no. She provided references but I did not call them. She is my brother's friend's wife so I've met her in passing. She had graduated with a bachelors recently and couldn't find a job and is BLS certified. She starts Tuesday and came over last week to meet E.

@mrs. bird: I was going to suggest the same thing. If you email the education department at your local university there are always students looking to earn extra money. In order to do their field experience, they will have had to have been fingerprinted with a background check.

We found our nanny on care.com. She has a few friends she recommended to us as sitters when she goes back to school next month. So sad to be losing her!
