When it comes to labeling clothing items, backpacks, etc, how do you label them? With a marker? With tape? Do you buy stickers from somewhere? How do stickers with their name hold up to wash wear?
Thanks

I used Oliver's Labels and they have held up really well! My current set has been on his lunch box pieces for over a year and they still look new.

I have bought some from Mabels labels and Label Daddy.
Mabels held up much better!

I bought waterproof labels. They all come off in the wash.
Painters tape and sharpie and it stays on through months of washings (sippy). Bibs and sleep sack sharpie on the label. Extra clothes I put in a Ziploc bag with her name on it.

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: from my craft drawer. Tape and sharpie and DONE.

I had some labels made that are awesome. I've only used them on cups though and lunch containers, they've held up really well in the dishwasher. They don't get used all the time though.

I second @Mrs. High Heels: the namebubbles labels are great. I have them on DD's bottles and they've held up great in the dishwasher. They also go on her clothes and have held up just fine in the wash. And they're cute!

Okay, silly question part deux - which/what items do you label? Do you get labels for shoes and clothes or just clothes? What about containers for food?

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: every school is different what they require. But I don't think you need to label shoes since they will have those on.

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: I label all containers, clothes, underwear, and blankets/sheets. I don't label shoes.

We use Mabel's labels and we label everything. Including clothes and shoes because we are required. We get the tag labels and use them on shoes too.

@Smurfette: Classroom requires them to have a pair of slip on shoes to keep in the classroom (think Crocs) in case something happens to their regular shoes while outside. Like mud, water, etc. Something so that they always have a pair of shoes. That's why I was wondering. But in that case it'd be in a cubby or bin somewhere, right?
@Mrs. High Heels: Oh gosh, I didn't even think about the blanket/sheet situation. Thanks!

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: I kept R's extra clothes in a ziploc bag with her name on it. I am not writing her name on clothes. I have seen her classmates have painters tape on their clothes so then the teacher just takes the tape off if they have to change them.
Extra shoes seems a bit much, esp. given as fast as they grow out of them.

@Smurfette: I can see that. I don't mind sending an extra pair but we have a few plastic-y shoes that I wouldn't miss if they got lost/ruined. And they usually come in whole sizes. Some, like the purple crocs, actually fit both kids!

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: @Smurfette: We use these round, laundry safe labels for clothes and sheets - http://www.namebubbles.com/Clothing-Labels/Laundry-Labels/Small-Round-Clothing-Labels/Product.aspx?ProductID=10&DeptID=25 - they are the perfect size for tags, and are good for tagless clothing too.

I use Mabel's labels and they never come off in the wash! I can even remove them from clothing and stick them on other clothing when he's outgrown his current size and moving to a bigger size.
For bottles, I use painter's tape and write with a sharpie.
I've been using both for 10 months and still going strong. And since I can reuse my clothing labels, I've still got half a sheet left. Makes the price more worth it since I originally cringed at the high price.

Another vote for Mabel's! Been using them for 10 months now and they are great. We used them on bottles (which went in the sterilizer) as well as clothing, they've never fallen off.

For bottles and food containers I used mYDecals from Etsy.
They have stayed on for 1+ year and still look great. Customer service is fantastic, prices are great and they have really cute designs. Would recommend for sure.
