I haven't been around HB as much lately (well since mid-July, really) due to being busy with my two -- I feel like my days are flying by and all I am accomplishing is the essentials which doesn't leave much time for the extras like HB!

I've been here, mostly reading, but I comment here and there.

Literally, I am sitting at my desk at work while avoiding doing work. I'm looking for jackets for LO and trying to think about what needs to be done for her birthday party.

I am so busy with work, its crazy!! This is one of my busiest times of year getting student registered and ready for classes- so once Oct hits it will slow down a bit!
I really really really need to start getting ready for LO #2! We are down to like 13 weeks and I have done absolutely nothing but order some fabric to make curtains. I haven't even done anything with the fabric since I ordered it.... I need to get on the ball!!
Anyone want to come help me paint a new nursery??

@avivoca: I should probably look at jackets for Xander too. Good reminder.

@cheert16: Since we live so close, we should've figured something out to help each other paint rooms!

Life is BUSY! Back to school/work means no down time until 8pm or so (early release today!). I also let my gold membership expire so I haven't been able to read/comment on as much.

Also, there was a fairly large exodus of some of the more frequent posters last month when all the drama went down. I'm sure that's a contributing factor.

I'm still trying to balance working full-time with solo parenting in the evenings and finding time to spend time with a husband with whom I work a stacked schedule (I work 8:30-5, and his hours have flexible start and finish times, but never start before noon and can go as late as 2am, and with my hours finding time with him during the week is challening), work out (side-brag: I've lost 36lbs since March!), and time to just relax and decompress from a stressful job (that I was recently transferred to).

In additon--I'm not TTC or really thinking about it anytime in the real future (we've put off even having a conversation about it on hold until next spring), I'm obviously not pregnant and my son is getting older. I don't feel very relevant. I know that I still offer history/advice to bees who are still in those stages, and while I do occasionally look for advice on some parenting topics we're dealing with (like paci weaning), overall I'm in a place where we're pretty settled with him and I trust my own judgement most of the time and it's been working well, so I don't feel the need to post about most of the issues that come up, unless I'm seeking new ideas when mine don't work out.

But...I've known some of the bees for 4ish years. Some of them I've connected with offline (whether by text or in person). It's a community that has been invaluable to me in support and advice in the past. I just don't feel like I have much to offer except the fluffier, non-serious threads, but those are more finite for me than all of the issues while I stressed about TTC and tried to get a handle on being a brand new parent. There's only so many times one can ask what's for dinner, ya know?

ANYWAY, that's all just to say that I still read most threads, though, even if I don't post a lot of new ones. Even though I don't really feel like I belong here as much anymore, I'm not quite ready to leave, either

Busy with work and laundry aka remaining work from home day. I may also be checking out maternity clothes at Old Navy's website. I don't want to get too excited about yesterday's development until I miss my period and have a first appointment.

LO starts daycare in 1.5 weeks and I *just* realised that there is a whole bunch of stuff that I have to get her for her to go. Like rubber boots and a lunch bag and splash pants and another sleep sack and so on. So all my free internet time is spent finding stuff for her. And freaking out that my baby is going to daycare.

@lovehoneybee: Aww, I miss you. I love seeing pics of Mr. E. I feel the same way sometimes about the Bee, going in spurts of relevance or not. I can relate a lot on the toddler threads as my Mr. E. is a mini dictator asserting his place in the world. So many "Now's!" from him lately. He's getting better at asking "please" though.

@IRunForFun: Not a formal one, no, and not from my heaviest. When I got on the scale at the doctor at 193 I knew I had to do something, but I wasn't actively trying to lose weight, I just wanted to make a lifestyle change (changing my diet, being more active, etc). I didn't even want to look at myself in the mirror at that point, let alone take pictures. Once I realized that things were actually happening (the next time I got the nevre to step on a scale I was 20lbs lighter) I started making more of a conscious effort, but I still haven't taken a picture...

We've been busy starting preschool and then quitting preschool and now looking for something else. Also the little one is nursing less and that's when I do 90% of my HB time.

@cascademom: Ugh, I can so relate! My E's favorite word is "no". He asked for applesauce after dinner last night, so I opened a pouch for him and his response was to yell "NO!" at it (and me) and throw it on the floor. I actually put him to bed earlier than normal because my temper was at it's breaking point....

@lovehoneybee: Last week, we put E to bed without any dinner after a massive tantrum. I think part of it was that he had a long day, was tired, and wasn't getting the wins he wanted. He just had to eat 2 bites of food, refused, and didn't get what he wanted. We towed the line, ate dinner, and he fussed. Soon after, he was in bed and asleep. It was a tough toddler night.

@looch: Sometimes I'm nervous about starting threads too. I used to start a bunch, but I've been trying not to be such an attention whore, so...

@MrsMccarthy: I'm well! Dealing with pelvic pain (yay second pregnancy...) and heartburn. How are you?

@IRunForFun: I was thinking that might be the culprit too! Such a bummer.

@lovehoneybee: Congratulations on your major weight loss!!! 36 lbs is AMAZING!!! You should be so proud of yourself! And I totally hear you on being in that weird stage of non-relevancy. I'm pregnant, but it's old news - been there done that. And my toddler is older and I don't need as much advice on him (he's FINALLY eating almost exclusively finger foods!!!!). I try to offer advice to FTMs, but sometimes their threads feel like they want advice from people who are going through it with them, so I don't want to butt in where I don't belong. It's definitely a weird stage to be in.

@cascademom: Did I miss a BFP from you??? Congratulations!!!! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!!

@Grace: Starting daycare is such a big step! HUGS! I hope your LO loves it as much as mine does!!

@Adira: Yep, it looks like I got one yesterday. I'm going to wait until the weekend to totally confirm, then appointment, before going into a due date thread. I was equally cautious with my LO's pregnancy.

Right now, I'm just trying to remember if I have enough sweaters for the winter. There's some cute ones. Once I go through my maternity clothes, I'll decide which ones to pass onto friends or post here.

After my second m/c a month ago, I hid pretty much every board having to do with actually having a kid (pretty ironic on a parenting site) so, I keep to the miscarriage boards for the most part.

I have the girls with me all day and we're usually out of the house so I can only post during nap time.... I am also struggling with wishing I was pregnant since my loss and struggle a bit with all the baby stuff, which makes me feel like a total cow at the same time. And like I bring the boards down a bit. But, I am hoping to post more if things work out for us in the TTC department.

<< Does the site tend to pick up again later or are the summer months just more busy in general? >>

@Adira: Just got back to my desk and looked at the data! Last year, September pageviews were down relative to the previous month after going up sharply in July and August. This year, September pageviews are down by about roughly the same amount. What's interesting is that the number of visitors goes up each September, so what I think is happening is that a lot of people visit the boards but they're too busy to read and post as usual.

Traffic tends to be pretty cyclical: it usually picks up again in October and November, and then goes down in December as the holidays get busy. Then traffic explodes into the New Year.

We've run a few other sites that have a January traffic explosion, so it may just be that people tend to talk with their friends over the holidays and then in January, their friends check out any websites that they heard about. In any case, Hellobee's traffic explosion in January tends to be lower than we've seen on other sites - possibly because people tend to keep talk about Hellobee/TTC/pregnancy under wraps.

Anyway those are the seasonal trends. Boards traffic this month is a bit down over usual, as we had more hostesses last year at this time (and postathons were correspondingly bigger then too). But the blog is picking up more traffic, so it all evens out.

@mrbee: So interesting! Thanks for checking out the numbers and getting back to me. I definitely think those trends make sense (people being busier in September with back to school stuff and then busy again in December with holiday stuff). I'm curious to see what the rest of the year brings, with regards to board activity.

@travelgirl1: I second @simplyfelicity: 's invitation. None of us "like" that we belong in that thread so we all sort of come and goes and we need support/feel like we can give support...but it's super nice people there (if I can pretend to be unbiased!)

@Adira: Yah the boards should pick up over time... I agree with @IRunForFun:, some of our more frequent posters left last month, and a few others are posting less for various reasons!
