Right now, we're in upstate NY (legit, lake effects upstate ) but we're not from here and can't wait to get out, hopefully in 2-4 years

from southern california, but living in the central valley right now a la @simplyfelicity: it's totally the midwest in CA! i try to explain it to my former neighbors that way. ha.

@birdofafeather: I also call it the "Bible Belt of California."

@simplyfelicity: i've never been to the south, but i've likened it to that as well. one of our neighbors has a large confederate flag hanging in their garage...

@birdofafeather: Oh boy...I feel like so much of California is like this (from Redding down to Bakersfield) but it's not the California people envision. We have to grow food somewhere, right?

@birdofafeather: @simplyfelicity: Another one from the Central Valley! People definitely don't picture the Central Valley when they hear California. It's dry... Hot... Not by the beach...

@birdofafeather: the confederate flag... You aren't in Clovis are you? Just curious haha

@MrsRcCar: March is a tough time. It could be really nice or freezing with a ton of snow. I would recommend the museums for sure - the museum of science and industry is fun and kid friendly. The aquarium is nice, but small. There's a children's museum on navy pier too. I've never been there (DS is only 10 weeks) but I've heard it's fun. Then there is Lincoln park zoo if it's not freezing. It's free and a good place to walk around. Are you looking to stay more downtown or are you up for venturing out into other neighborhoods?

@Purpledaisy: nope! Bako. we have lots of oil field workers on our street. i've also seen trump bumper stickers... it's all very weird.

From NYC, living in Saratoga County, NY (real upstate;) moving to Virginia beach!

@M4mi: Saratoga is one of my favorite areas in NY. I worked there and lived near Albany for a while.

@birdofafeather: upstate NY is kind of like that too. People think it's all like NYC, but there are some very conservative areas and I grew up across from a corn field, so not what people think is in NY....

@travellingbee: Yes! My grandparents have a home near Ticonderoga and I'm always surprised by how... rural... it is up there
