I've narrowed my choices down to two, the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Breast Pump, or the Medela Advanced Personal Double Breastpump.
I'd love to know which you prefer ... If you have one, and DIDN'T really like it, could you share why?

I have both the Ameda and the Medela PISA. I prefer the Medela because I think the suction is better. The Ameda is still good though!

I have the medela and like it- is that the one through insurance in the tan bag? I never used another one but I have no complaints. It's the same motor as the Pisa but no battery option and it doesn't come with the separate cooler bag.

I have both an old Medela PIS and a new Ameda Purely Yours. The Ameda is not as effective as even my old Medela. I do like having the Ameda because it is smaller so I keep it at home and it's easier to use on the couch or whatever, but if I was only going to have one for pumping at work I would get the Medela without question.

I have a 2007 Medela PISA. It's held up incredibly well through my SIL's two kids and my LO. I'm holding onto it for the next one.

my Medela! It's easier to find accessories etc for it locally than the Ameda.

I'm personally going with whatever my insurance will pay for! I have a high deductible plan, so might as well make them actually pay for something!!!
My sister has used Medela with both her kids and loves it. I have heard good things about both of them, so you probably can't go wrong either way.

When I picked up my Medela PISA at the medical sales place they said that now that insurance covers breastpumps, they can hardly keep the Medela PISA in stock! They said, as a general rule, people only opt for the Ameda Purely Yours when they don't have the Medela in stock!

@Sparkler: Interesting! Yeah, our insurance covers it, so I'll buy from a local store. Good to hear the perspective from the sales person, right??

I have an Ameda pump and really love it.
I had to pay for mine last year so cost was part of my decision, but the biggest deciding factor was that it has a closed system. Knowing that I never have to worry about mold in my tubing, or having to clean that part of the setup was a big plus.

@vegmama It may just also be because the Medela is more expensive and when people aren't paying, they opt for the most expensive to feel like they are getting the most benefit?

@lindseykaye: That was the biggest plus on my list, too!
I ended up choosing the Medela, based on recommendations, but I am already bummed about having to clean the tubes!

Thanks everyone! I picked the Medela ... Insurance responded today with the final OK. Woohoo!!
