Two of my friends are married to Finns and both received the baby boxes and both of their babies slept in the boxes for the first few weeks. DD's snowsuit this year is actually a hand me down from the Finnish box!

That baby box is a great way to see government in action helping it's people.
I had no idea Finland was a poor country, at one time at least. We have all come a long way in terms of knowing what's good and safe for babies.

I read this article when it first came about. It totally fascinated me and made me kinda want to move to Finland (that and having known people who live there and hearing about their schooling/politics/general religious stance).

@MUI831: Right? Me too, for sure. I wish the US would at least hand you a card that says "breastfeeding is not birth control. Please be responsible unless you want to visit again in 9 months."
Ive seen this a couple times on Reddit and I think it's really neat. We got a bunch of stuff when I was pregnant through a program for overseas military families called Bundles for Babies. It had crib sheets, towels, washcloths, burp cloths, bibs, a blanket, and some basic onesies and pants. All of it was gender neutral.
