Our school district we are currently zoned for is good, but not great. DH wants to move so we live in a better district, but the real estate is more expensive (of course).
I don't really want to move, but DH does.

Most likely, but there are a lot of reasons. We live in the city, schools are unpredictable (as in, you don't even know which school you will get). But we probably also won't be able to afford the kind of space we will want longer term. When we move, we will factor schools in very highly.

Yes. We're in an ok district for elementary school, but I don't like the middle school. We are going to move to one of two other elementary districts. They feed to different high schools, but either is fine, but they both feed the same middle school. One is the district I grew up in, but the other is excellent as well. I want to move before elementary school, though, so that we don't have to switch friend groups.

No, we just bought our house last year and we chose the location because it has some of the best schools in the area.

Planning to homeschool, and DH's job moves us a lot. But if we decided to put them in school, AND DH found a job that wouldn't move is, then we'd look into it. I have no idea what schools are like on our area right now.

We're moving but not out of our district and hopefully not away from our zoned school.

Yep, I will be finished with my phd by the time LO starts school and going on the job market-- I have noooo idea where we will live then

Possibly. But we are strongly considering private school so we would not have to move to have the babe go there. So that will factor in.

Yes, most likely we will move. I'd be fine with preK in our zoned school but not beyond that. We rent though, and are planning to buy (therefore move) about 2 months into preK anyway!
ETA: our school situation is frustrating, and I think it has the potential to change via rezoning to create two wonderful and diverse schools. As it is now the schools in our district are really segregated, so I'd like to move districts - just a few blocks away it's not a problem.

Maybe. We are considering private options. My husband would like to move because of the types if people she would potentially exposed to. I went to the school district the currently in (all 12 years) and that's not my main concern. Its embarrassing how little effort I was able to put in and still pass AP classes with a's and b's (I flat out wouldn't turn in assignments sometimes!) and I want LO to have a better opportunity at her education than that. I don't want her skating by like I did and I don't want her in an environment that enables that.

No...an equivalent house in one of the two better districts would cost at least a few hundred thousand more, and it's easier to just do private school than have a house in a different town and still be in public school.

We will be moving regardless when DH finishes grad school. If we still live locally it will depend on dd. districts here have two kindergarten cutoff options. Depending on district she will either be 4y11m or 5y11m when she starts kindergarten. That will be a factor for us, that we can make a judgment on as she gets older and her personality and natural academic ability emerge more.

possibly. we're renting now and i have no idea where we'll want to be in a couple years!

No. While we live here, our LOs will go to a private school that doesn't have a district. We did move this summer to be closer to that school though.

Nope, we chose our neighborhood for the schools. Barring any big life changes like relocating to another state for work.

Not for elementary school. At this moment I am 95% sure my son will not attend the high school where we currently live, but I am not certain we will move during middle school.
