In our district, there is a Transitional Kindergarten for kids who turn 5 after the school cut off date of Sept 1st. I hope my LO can get into one of these classes...
Ok, I'm worrying about this 4 years in advance...lol!

Our school doesn't have a specific class, but she will be in pre-school for 2 years instead of 1 year since she will be older.

Yes, DS is about to start the 3/4 year preschool class and after that will attend pre-k 5 days a week.
But if he did the 2/3 year old preschool class this year and 3/4 after that, he would go straight to kindergarten.

Our little guy is starting kindergarten at 4yr old next week! His bday is October 12th, but because he did preschool and then pre-k he tested in with flying colors

DS is in his 2nd year of Pre-K and will be 4 in November. He goes half days 5 days a week. He will be to young for Kindergarten next year so he will go to Pre-K again He will have 3 years of Pre-K before Kindergarten.

My oldest didn't do Pre-K and ended up needing to be held back after one year of Kindergarten.
My youngest did two years of Pre-k and will start Kindergarten next week.
The baby on the way will most likely do at least one year of Pre-k when that time comes.

My LO did preschool from 2.5-4 yo. When we moved out here to CA and she was 4.5yo, we looked for a pre-K program for this fall and stumbled upon a school that had both pre-K and TK. The differences between the two classes are minimal, but I just happened to like the TK room more. She's ready for it, so she'll be going to TK next month, and Kinder at 5.5 yo next year. I'm glad in this regard that she has a Feb birthday.

I'm undecided... I know that I can teach an entire preschool curriculum here at home for next to free lol but there are other benefits a school setting gives, like socialization, sharing, interaction with teachers, etc..
I think it depends what our life is like at the time. If I've started working, yes, I will put him in preschool. But if I'm still SAHM I'm not sure!!

There is only PreK at certain elementary schools in the area where we plan to move, so we're looking at houses that are zoned for those schools. I really would like him to have the extra time, because he's young by the cut off (December birthday and the cut off is Dec 31). He'll be starting Kindy at 4, which I think is young, so an extra year would be helpful.

We don't have pubic pre-K so I could switch DD to private pre-K but I don't think I will. I think I'm going to keep her in daycare preschool.

Whoops, I wrote my post early this morning and it wasn't a yes or no type of question but I should add my area doesn't have public pre-k, only private.
