A lot of parents I know don't let their kids ride the bus. They all carpool. A big accident involving a bus full of elementary kids happened in front of my office the other day. I can't imagine how frightened the parents must have been.

I don't think so! I hope to live where we can walk.
I had the worst bus experiences growing up! Like, horrible. Being tripped and pushed and sworn at and kicked and things thrown at me and mean messages on my back. I was always the new kid whomp. Anyhow, I remember our bus ride was an hour and a half!

Maybe! It depends on where we live and our work schedules. I hope to be in a place where I don't have to work so much and can be free to drive her to and from, but I'm not opposed to her taking the bus.
I did for a short period of time (9th grade) and didn't have any bad experiences.

i only rode the bus in kindergarten and then my parents started carpooling with other families. i think it was easier for them to organize that and the bus also wasn't free anymore!

I think our house is too close to the elementary school to qualify for bus pickup, so we'll probably drop her off.

Hopefully it will never be an issue. I got bullied mostly on the bus, so I'd prefer to skip that. But if it's what makes sense, I won't refuse.

I hated riding the bus, and will try to avoid it for our kiddos. I can easily drop off and get to work on time. And they have after school programs that would allow them to stay longer until I could pick up.

Nope, my sister is a teacher at the school where our kids will go. It's only 5 mins away, so I think we'll probably take them or my sister will bring them with her.

Our elementary school is in our neighborhood, so we'll walk to school.

We live close enough that she'll walk or we'll drop her off for elementary and middle school. Not sure what we'll do about high school, the kids have to take the city buses and it's stupidly inefficient to get from our neighborhood to the school. And I don't particularly care for the high school we're zoned for so we might look into other options, but who knows how things will change by the time DD is in HS...

Nope - one of the perks of our house is that there is an excellent primary school on our street! It is approximately a 90 second walk to the school gate
