Ours will probably get driven to school and picked up from after-school.

He will get driven to daycare, from which he will get picked up by the school bus.

I will drive him to before-care at the school and pick him up from after-care at the school

It depends. We're about to move, and assuming we live in the same place they can walk. The development we're moving into is literally right next to an elementary school. I'm not sure about middle or high school, yet.

Right now, I'm thinking he'll get dropped off by me or DH. Then he'll probably get picked up by daycare since school gets let out hella early here!

Walk to elementary - our house backs up to the school and the neighborhood gate is less than 1/2 a mile away.

Driven - I'm hoping she will go to the school that I teach at! After school my mom will pick her up.

Their elementary school is literally 2.5 blocks away so we will likely walk them the first few years. But during bad weather and winter drive them. Middle and high school will be bus.

Not sure yet. Waiting to see if she enjoys taking the bus. If not, I will drive her. We'll see in a few months!

We will prob drive since all schools are pretty much within 5 minutes driving distance.

@mediagirl: I chose bus and be driven. We live in the country so our kids will need to be taken to school by someone. Most likely the bus most days, but I'm also a teacher, so if they go to the same school I'm teaching at then I will most likely take them.

When he starts elementary school we will either walk (15ish min) or take the tram (less than 5 min if we don't have to wait for it).

Walk to elementary for a few years and then it will be switched to a new location... us driving them or bus then!

We can see the entrance to the elementary school from our drive way! She will be walking (in the fall!!!)

Where we live now he will walk. Where we want too be, he will bus. Same school.

Driven in the earlier years (I telecommute and work from home 5 days a week-- hopefully it stays this way!) and once she's an "upper grader," she can walk.

We live within walking distance to an elementary, middle and high school. The elementary is rated very high, but I'm still up in the air about the middle and high schools because they aren't rated very well and seem to be getting worse every year.

If she wants to ride the bus, she can ride the bus. If not, we will drive her. If we still live in the same house, we have a ton of kids of live here and a majority of them ride the bus. The traffic outside the school is insane!!

If our schedules stay the same as they are now (which is likely) I will drive him to school and DH will pick him up.

The plan is to walk with LO, unless the weather is horrible then we will probably drive.

I am not sure. As of now, we aren't close enough to walk to the primary school they would go to, so we would probably drive.
However, the intermediate school (4-8) is crazy close and we could walk there in 5 minutes.
I am sure we will move before the oldest starts kinder, though!

I drive D right now and pick him up from school. Next year, 3rd grade, I'll drop him off and let him take the bus home. 5th grade campus is farther away, so he'll take the bus for that both ways.

Walk unless it is really convenient to drive for before school care. We live very close to the elementary and two middle schools. We can't avoid the school traffic during drop off. Just leaving for work during drop off time (without intentionally going towards the school) adds 15 minutes. I want nothing to do with that mess.
There are "walking bus stops" in our neighborhood to encourage kids to meet up and walk together. I'm curious to see if those are actually used.

When they're in elementary, they'll have before school care take them.
Middle school will likely be bus (depends on pick up time) or drop off.
When they're older, I'd be ok with them walking to the high school (which is less than a mile walk) or if it's nasty out, dropping them off early (it's on my way) or them taking the bus.
The school bus system is free/paid for here already, and most kids take it.

She will walk, unless the weather's bad and I will drive her (or someone will!)

We live down the road from the elementary school, we'll walk to school, I specifically didn't want to have to deal with the drop off line or the bus.
For middle/high school, it remains to be seen.

Walk, rain or shine! We live on the same street as the primary school, and only a couple of blocks from the secondary school, so walking it will be, every day.

I voted other - we have a cargo bike that has several seats and my hubby is excited to be the biking dad toting three kids around on it

Currently my oldest (12) walks herself to and from the bus stop daily.
I drive my middle one (8) to catch the bus each morning on my way to work and then someone is at the stop in the afternoon to get her.
My youngest isn't in school yet (2) but I imagine it'll something similar to my middle child's situation.

I usually drive them to school in the morning and they take the bus home, but we're also technically within walking distance ... we've never actually gotten up and ready early enough to walk though (I am SO NOT a morning person) maybe one day.
