No #2 yet, but just thinking ahead as to what i want to do when baby #2 comes along.
DD is in daycare right now and will probably stay in daycare while i'm on mat leave with #2. I'm contemplating looking into a nanny/nanny share when i go back to work and working from home. I was thinking of having a nanny for a year.
What did you guys do (or what will you do) with 2 kids? Did you send them both to daycare? Did you end up switching to a nanny?

yes, it did. after DS i went back to work. i worked from home 3 days a week, and he was with me. the 2 days i was in the office my mom watched him 1 day and DH and MIL alternated the other day. after DD i am a SAHM. we can't afford to put 2 in daycare, and working from home was becoming trying with just DS(he's 16.5 months and DD is 7 weeks). i may ask my work if they have parttime or per-diem work from home, just to bring in some extra money, and i'd work in the mornings and night while the kids are asleep.

I became a SAHM. In order for me to work, we would need daycare, Montessori preschool, and a nanny. It's just too much of a logical hassle.

She will go to her normal daycare (even when I'm on maternity leave) although ideally we would like for me to be working part time by then, but logically I don't know if we can swing that.

Stayed the same. LO is in the toddler room and the baby is in the infant room at daycare.

I'm still on maternity leave, but I will likely stay home/work part-time for about 12-18 months. In that time, I plan on finishing up my graduate studies. LO # 2 will likely have childcare sooner (nanny or nanny share), as I hope to be in a higher paying position, and we will have more disposable income.

Right now LO goes to daycare 4 days a week and ILs watch her 1 day. In an ideal world when we have two they will go to daycare 3 days week, ILs watch 1 day and either DH or I the other day. This will help offset the additional daycare cost and ideally I only want them in for 3 days anyway.

It would be 2 in daycare if we had 2. I think it's important for toddlers and preschoolers to socialize so the nanny thing isn't right for us.

@mediagirl: That's the thing, i don't necessarily want to pull DD out of daycare, but it would be pretty costly to have a nanny and daycare!!

When #2 arrives, DD will remain in daycare (she loves it there!) during my maternity leave. I will go back to work when #2 is 11 months old and then he/she will also be in the same daycare.
