We've had a few chilly nights recently 
which got me thinking about winter pajamas and bedding for 15 month old DS. Last winter we did fleece pjs and a baby deedee sleep sack. Trying to decide between another sleepsack and a blanket or quilt. Our house is old and gets chilly at night.
What does your younget toddler sleep in when it is cold?

We did fleece pjs, an A&A blanket, and kept our heat higher than we normally would. Young toddlers are unlikely to keep a blanket on top of them through the night, and we had stopped using sleep sacks a long time ago, so we felt like turning up the heat was our best option for making sure she stayed warm enough.

I used the ergopouch 3.5 tog winter sleep sack - it is literally like a cushy comfy quilt, its quite long and nicely warm.

We struggled with this last winter, because LO's room was by far the coldest in our condo- the rest of the house would have been sweltering to make it warm in her room. We did fleece footed sleepers, sometimes with a onesie underneath, and a warm fleecy blanket, sometimes 2. She did often kick it off so we would go in and put it back on her during the night after she was asleep. We also opened her door when we went to bed to let the warmer air circulate.
I seriously considered a space heater but was just way too nervous about them.

I'm having the same problem. My son is almost 20 months and I don't think he'd be happy in a sleep sack, but he moves around so much in the crib that every time I try to put a blanket on him he gets all tangled and wakes up crying. I think I'm going to do footie pajamas and just turn his space heater up higher.

We kept her footed sleepers and a sleep sack (the thicker baby deedee) at that age. We also have a space heater, although I don't trust it and really don't like using it.

We had a problem with our son because he runs hot and is really sweaty so anything fleece was out because its not breathable. But it would get cold enough in the early morning hours for him to wake up.
We use footie cotton pajamas or cotton PJs with socks and heavier cotton sleepsacks from Vaenait Baby (its a Korean brand and Koreans tend to be very pro-cotton clothing). We have also started giving him these sherpa blanket/pillow sets from Costco to get used to in preparation for fall/winter - they are 10 bucks each and really soft and plushy. He doesn't sleep underneath the blanket obviously (he's only 12 months) but just having it near him in the bed will give him more warmth.

We are still in sleepsacks at 21 months, and I don't plan to switch to pajamas until he moves to a big boy bed. So I have fleece sleepsacks he just started wearing at night (we had a cold front come in this week!) with a long sleeved cotton shirt and socks.

It sounds like this is a pretty common dilemma. Glad I'm not alone, was feeling like I was just missing something or overthinking it.
I have him in a mid weight regular sleep-sack tonight and so far he's fine. I guess we'll see in the morning.

DS is 26 months and we still do a sleep sack. He finds it comforting. In winter we usually do cotton jammies and socks and a fleece sleepsack. And sometimes a space heater too.

We still did sleep sacks last winter when LO was 20 months. Our favorite was the heavier Ikea sleep sack, and second favorite was baby deedee. We'll probably use the baby deedee again this winter because it's longer.

My DD is 21 months and mostly refuses the sleepsack...every once in awhile, she'll agree to wear it but it's rare. It's just starting to get chilly here and she rolls around in her sleep so her blankets don't stay in place, so I got her a toddler-sized duvet. It's stiffer than a blanket so hopefully it will stay on top of her even if she moves around. Tonight is the first time we're trying it, though, so we'll see...fingers crossed. If that doesn't work, I guess we'll just have to turn up the heat.

Oh also the Vaenait sacks have feet holes so DS can move about. Love that about them.

We used the halo sleep sacks for the early walker so they had foot holes. But we also sort of had to trick him into thinking they were jammies by putting them on at the same time as he wouldn't let us put it on him if he was already wearing his pj's. Not sure what we'll do this year when he's 3 as he figured out our trick at the end and doesn't like footed sleepers anymore.

I am really struggling with this! I had to stop putting DD in any snap up footie pajamas because she was kicking out of them and when I got her in the morning they would either be unbuttoned up to her crotch or her foot would be caught in the space between 2 snaps. It was so crazy...DD1 never did anything like it.
And now she is 12 months and somehow she is wriggling out of the neckholes of her sleep sacks. Again, what is up with this crazy Houdini child?? This has happened with 2 different Baby DeeDee sleep sacks (my favorite) and also her MerinoKids sleep sack. I truly have no idea what I am going to do with her!

@CakeLady: oh yay! I hope your LO enjoys its super snuggly-ness!. I found mine washed really well, I air dryed it til it was mostly dry before putting it in the dryer as I was worried about shrinkage. I've saved mine in a vac seal bag til I need them again for this babe

Cotton footed Jammie's and a baby deedee sleep sack. On cold winter nights a short sleeve onesie underneath as well. Very rarely is it cold enough for me to pull out fleece because it makes them sweat so much!

My DD is 14 months and still LOVES her Woolino sleepsack. The wool/cotton sleepsack is the only one we have and insulates so well while also breathing. On colder nights I put her in cotton footie pajamas under her sleepsack, and may add another onesie under that if she ever wakes up cold.

@gingerbebe: I just looked up the Vaenait Baby sleep sacks and they look pretty comfy. It doesn't get tight putting it on underneath the PJs? What do you do about keeping LO's arms warm also? I feel like I need to keep LO's warm too.

@Pumpkin Pie: No they are quite baggy. Definitely size up for American kids, since Korean kids tend to be shorter and smaller. I just put my son in long sleeved cotton PJs at night and socks on his feet and then the cotton sack and he's fine.
