My husband and I both want our kids to be nerds! We know so many people who used to be total nerds in school but ended up becoming so successful later on in life. Of course, being a nerd isn't fun and comes with some possible teasing. But hopefully we'll instill a sense of confidence in our kids so that they can overcome it all.

Nerd. I was friends with the popular crowd in middle school and they just weren't very nice. So I started hanging out with my band friends. Life was much better after that.

How about both? In high school, I was the "odd" girl out in that I had friends who were in all different crowds. I'm still friends with many of those people and am so glad that I wasn't friends with with just one crowd or another.

I would want them somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't want an all out nerd, but someone who is smart and focuses on school as well as other activities. I wouldn't want them to be the most popular because I feel like there's a lot of pressure to please. The middle would be perfect!

I was popular in school and I think I still was able to keep my head on my shoulders and pulled good grades. I want my children to feel accepted and never want them to feel left out. I would rather them be popular than go through school bullied.

I think it's best to be a nerd. I don't think the popular kids in my school were very smart ...obviously a huge generalization but they were popular because they were the best looking and they didn't necessarily study hard. So perhaps I should say they didn't study hard.

I'd also like them to be somewhere in the middle. I'd like them to be smart but also involved in extracurricular activities so that they have their own social circle. If I HAD to choose between the 2 I'd choose nerd though.

at my hs, the popular kids were smart! i was in all of the academic teams (science olympiad, academic challenge, speech and debate, etc) but I was popular too! would want the same for my kiddos
