We were supposed to get 4-8" yesterday and I think we got 1" if that. I'm watching this crazy DC/NYC storm, green with envy... Sort of! I'd love to have that kind of amazing snow, but I'm not sure if I could be cooped up for another couple days lol.

I'm living it and will happily trade places with you!! We have over a foot already and the worst is yet to come. This area is not equipped to handle this amount of snow.

Nope! We got plenty last year (boston- over 100 inches) so I'm in no rush! I know it's coming so I can wait.
That said my toddler actually knows what snow is and is excited to play in it when it comes so I am excited to get a few inches so she can play. Like, 3 inches would be plenty. No need for two feet, thanks.
We are supposed to get 1-3 inches this weekend.

@catomd00: I lived not too far from there for a few years as a kid and I remember getting a massive snow storm, the snow drifts bigger than me, but definitely agree, they were NOT prepared to handle it. I don't think we had school for a week.
It was fun though, as a kid

@Applesandbananas: Me too! I grew up near DC and remember the massive blizzard. We were shut down for a week! It was fun as a kid and luckily the grocery store was a short walk away if we needed anything because the cars were not getting out.

Ugh living it and not thrilled. My husband and I had plans to get away with friends this weekend (a post baby rarity), but instead snowed in at home.

No, I don't think it's fun when you live somewhere (DC) that's not equipped for large amounts of snow and then you get a blizzard. And DH is out of town this weekend so the foot of snow we're supposed to get (in NY) is enough for me.

We are living it! It's pretty but OMG we are not equipped for snow like this. There's a reason I choose to live in VA and not the Northern part of the US.

In NYC today, it's really drifty, but it doesn't seem that bad yet, and it'll all start melting away on Monday

Absolutely positively not! I'm in Michigan so there have been many winters we've gotten a ton of snow. Its tough to deal with even for people who always get it, I feel for those getting hammered and are not used to it.

Yes! There's something so fun and cozy about being cooped in for a snow day. But we live in snow country so it takes A LOT of snow to shut the city down. It would be business as usual around here.

I'm totally jealous! I grew up in northern IN and playing in the snow was such a fun part of winter. Now that I live in the South, I miss it! And I wish DD could play in it!

I miss it because it seemed to have fell Friday night and perfect for a weekend storm. Now, if it was going to happen Friday day or Thursday day, I know I would be stressed about the commute. But here I am in Seattle with just rain and seeing all of my east coast friends and family posting about snow.
If only snow only fell on the weekends, it would be so nice.
Oh, I have family and friends in Philadelphia and they got about 20 inches already and they might get 10 more.

I'm super jealous, but I'm a Floridian and snow is like a mythical creature to us. I had several friends in north Florida report they saw flurries this morning, though. So that was thrilling.

Flipping heck, no!!! Pre-LO, when it was just me and DH, I would have loved it - work cancelled, nowhere to go, drinking wine allllllll day and watching TV in bed! But now? NOPE!

I am but only in a naive way. I know it's got to be so so stressful but I've honestly never lived anyplace it snowed so I have no idea what it's like. For me, snow = Narnia.
@bananapancakes is so right about snow being a mythical creature! I only have romantic and idealized concepts of what living with snow is like.

Umm, no. I'm north of Boston and we had over 100 inches of snow last year. It was insane, and we still have a lot of winter left so I'm sure it's coming. Snowing now but we're only getting a few inches.
@NCSUchick27: impressive!!! That was us last year - so rare for your area though right?! Hopefully it's light & fluffy, pace yourself digging out!

Yeah I grew up there and my social feeds are completely dominated by the snow photos/posts. I remember how exciting these huge blizzards are, so yeah I am jealous.
