We have the baby jogger city mini gt. We live in Canada and routinely get huge snowfalls of 20-30cm or more. It's been great both winters we've had it and it's light and compact. We have to walk our dog all winter and we haven't had any issues manneuvering it!

I've been looking for the perfect one for so long. We've gone through several strollers and currently have the city mini GT, which seems to be the one that most people at our daycare land on as well (like 70% of us have them at this point). The wheels are not perfect in deep snow, but will get you through a few inches without too much trouble. It's relatively lightweight (21 lbs) and easy to fold, which are both critical things for our situation (I have to fold and unfold it multiple times every day, and lift it to cram it into tight spaces in our daycare stroller storage area).

I have heard the Bumbleride Indie is about the same weight and has better wheels, although it costs more. The UB Vista seems to be a good choice if you don't have to fold up or lift your stroller too often. We previously had a City Select, which is similar, but it was too heavy and annoying for me so we sold it very quickly.

Another one that looks promising is the valco snap or snap4 with the added snow tires, but I can't really find many reviews of these strollers or any places to test them out so no idea how good they would be. They are apparently lighter than even the city mini gt though.

I have a Cruz in a city (NYC) that gets snow--I love the Cruz in general but I actually avoid using ANY stroller right after we have a big snowfall because most of the sidewalks don't get shoveled right away, or only partially get cleared, and nothing's going to get through! I typically would wear lo when it was really bad out.

@Goldengirl: Yes, it definitely is top heavy, especially when compared with the other strollers I've had (4 of them at this point!). I am hyper-aware of it though and just make sure to keep my toddler from climbing up on it in a dangerous way or hanging too much stuff hanging from the handle. It's never actually tipped over since we've had it. I should add though that we've never used it with the seat reclined (by the time we got it, my "baby" was already a toddler and she only likes to sit up).

@Goldengirl: once the sidewalks have been cleared it's fine! though in NYC, it mostly melts pretty quickly after a big storm. I did a google image search of what I mean-- this is pretty typical for here: https://thesmokingnun.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/dscn5713.jpg it's impossible to get through the tiny paths people clear and then there will be a huge random snow bank where someone didn't clear, and then in 2 days it's all melted, lol

@Goldengirl: I hear you. I basically never lifted it when we lived in the City. I parked it at the lower level of my building so I only had to deal with 4 steps. I just sort of bumped it up or down the steps resting on the big rear tires. It worked fine but I'm not sure how I would have managed if there had been a lot more.

I'm in Toronto and used the Vista with my first, loved it no problems with snow or transit as long as I stayed in subway routes.
With my second and third I use a MB Duet. Also great in the snow. The push isn't as nice as the vista, but the UBV sucked as a double.
I'd look at the Valco Snap it's really light and has great features.

I have the vista and had a 1.5 year old during bostons insanely snowy winter. Nothing could get through the snow- sidewalks weren't shoveled wide enough and the curb cutouts to cross the street would get plowed in. Baby wearing was 1000x easier. I've hear the bugaboo buffalo is one of the best in the snow. For my vista even with 2-3 inches if fresh snow it sucked. But I really like everything else about the visit and it's great for bumping up curbs or a couple of steps. I used it on public transportation during off peak hours and never had a problem.

But like other people have noted the fold isn't the easiest or smallest and it's heavy- I wouldn't choose it if I had to put it in my trunk very often. Never had much of a problem in stores and I used it to do all my grocery shopping when I just had one. The Cruz looks awesome too though.

I live in Chicago and used to walk my son home from daycare on the unshoveled sidewalks to our condo about a half mile away. I had a City Mini (not GT), which I generally love, but it was terrible in the deep snow. I once walked home with a friend of mine who lived in the neighborhood and she had the GT and it did not fare any better than my City Mini. I then purchased the Baby Jogger Summit X3 as an open box deal on Amazon and it was night and day difference. Admittedly, I was restricted to easy to fold strollers since I had to store my stroller at daycare all day so lots of the jogging type strollers that would have been fine weren't really options. Our strollers had to be collapsed and folded and put on shelves in a designated area in the daycare and we needed it to be easy to transport for our purposes as well. I generally agree that baby wearing is great in bad weather but when my son was 2 and I was lugging a laptop bag and work files, babywearing in the snow just wasn't a feasible option. As for strollers, I think you need big tires that lock for when the weather is bad and you should consider whether that foldability is important to you or not (i.e. where the stroller gets stored at home or at daycare, etc. when not in use).

@Goldengirl: I remember reading this review about the snow and strollers- might be helpful, though both strollers are big ones. @Goldengirl: hi there! i'm finding myself in your same position two years later. live DT Toronto, worried about snow, don't want something too bulky/large as i live in a high rise (elevators). Like the Cruz but am worried about the wheels being inadequate. What did you end up going w/? and any thoughts w/ all this experience?

I have a Bugaboo Cameleon and it is NOT GOOD in snow. Front wheels are too small. I love the stroller besides that issue, so would get the Buffalo or Frog or whatever they are now calling the single stroller that's higher and has real tires in the front.

@tinyperson it’s not so much the snow as the icy slush that happens like minutes after snowfall in the city- I have turned it around so the big wheels are in front, but it drives me crazy how hard it is to turn that way. Also they say to take off the small wheels and pull the stroller like a cart in the snow but... no.

So I don’t live in an area where I need to use our stroller for transportation but either because I was working part time or because of our schedules I have been forced pretty often to run through or run errands in some very snow/icy/slushy conditions with our BOB Ironman and BOB Revolution strollers. Again if there are 2 feet of snow you’re not going to get anything to push through, but you can muster through a few inches of fresh snow on top of whatever is underneath. BOBs are really big so probably wouldn’t be practical, but anything with real tires is going to be better than something with hard wheels.
