We switched D right around 9 months. He coudl have stayed in the bucket seat a little longer, but we were taking a 10-hour road trip and thought he would appreciate the extra room in the convertible.

DD was born BIG (9lbs), but she sure slowed down after that. She has always been petite. She was in an infant for about 13 months.

My 9 month old is pushing 22 lbs and is over 29 inches. We switched when she was around 8 months.

I don't remember exactly when but we switched earlier... He hated the infant car seat so much. Didn't particularly like the convertible, still doesn't...

I make giant babies - one outgrew it at 5 months based on being less than an inch from the top of the shell. The other we moved at 7 months due to an incorrect measurement at the pediatrician - could have stayed until somewhere 9-12 months.

DS1 we switched around 11 months. DS2 is 8 months and he's super tiny, so I don't think we'll switch until we get DS1 in a high back harness booster after he turns 4. He's still in his convertible and we're hoping to be able to use those for DS2.

We moved dd when she was around 13 months. But she's always been teeny tiny and even at that point was still able to carry her in the car seat.

At that point we had a convertible in one car and the infant seat in the other. At 12 months we had her in a convertible in both cars. I loved our infant seat until about 5-6 months.

@Mrs. Turtle: !! C is 6 months and 20 lbs. Little chunker. We will be switching by 9 months for sure. He is a little over 27 inches right now.

@wrkbrk: haha! T is the same. 27.5 inches and 20 lbs 2 oz. It's funny, though, everyone who sees him comments that he's big for 9 months. Go figure.

We switched both boys around 6 months. They were both close to 25 lbs at that point.

I had big babies and they stopped staying asleep in the bucket seat around 9/10 months, so we switched them then.

Our 15 month old (who is 20 lbs and short) is still in the bucket seat. We're trying to hold out as long as possible to minimize cost as we move the two kids between seats.
We haven't carried her in it since 6 months probably.

Convertibles at 8 months. Both of them stopped staying asleep in the bucket when we brought them in and they were big babies so way too heavy on my back.

Infant seat for way longer than should be-until 18 months! I still miss the convenience...

We switched from the infant carrier to convertible right around 7 months, before our first road trip. My baby boy was super heavy in the carrier (about 35 pounds total - haha I probably should have switched earlier). He loves the convertible seat! He can see out the window better and isn't as scrunched up.
However, I really miss the convenience of the carrier and would still be using it if he wasn't such a little lug!

Moved both of my boys to a convertible around 8/9 months. With DS1 I was just excited to move onto the next thing. DS2 is a big kid and his height got him out of the bucket quickly.

LO is 12mo & still in her infant seat at the moment. She is just shy of the height limit, though, so we need to upgrade ASAP. I have really appreciated the convenience of pulling her out in the bucket, so I'm really not looking forward to moving up to the convertible, but certainly will do it for her safety & comfort.

DD is 13 months and is in a convertible in my car and a bucket in DH's. She's pretty small and still has a couple inches before she's outgrown the height limit on the bucket. The convertible is a big monetary investment so we're trying to make sure we really love the convertible we got before buying a second.

Just installed our new Graco Extend2Fit and took our first trial run to T's visitation this afternoon. He seems happy in it, looking out the window, sitting much more vertical and way less scrunched. I hope he likes it for our long drive tomorrow! (5 hours for a weekend away with just me and him)

We switched to a convertible at six months and he was soooo much happier in the car!

DD was barely 27 inches at her 9 month appt a couple weeks ago. We are actually still on only the second notch on her bucket seat. Her shoulders are still not above the third notch. We'll be in the bucket for a while.
My niece didn't outgrow her bucket until 25 months!

DS (at the time ~95% for height and weight) had outgrown his infant seat at around 7 months, DD could still fit in it now at 16.5m. We moved her to the convertible at around 14.5m.

DS was in an infant seat until he was 19 months. He was pretty tiny, though.

We switched to the convertible at six months because my son was able to sit up well enough for highchairs and grocery carts. He was too heavy (20lbs) to carry around in the infant seat anyway.

Both my kids were in their infant seats until about 10 months. They hadn't outgrown them (I make small kids!) but they were getting too heavy to lug around.

We switched E at like 6 months. He was just so big, and that outweighed the convenience of being able to carry him in the bucket seat. G is 5.5 months and is still in the bucket seat and I haven't thought about switching yet.

My DS is another one who was tiny, and at 16 mos still fit perfectly in his infant seat, but he HATED being in the car. I would literally get panic attacks driving him. I hated it.
Once we switched him to a convertible? He loved being in the car, and actually occasionally fell asleep! He was a totally different kid in a convertible. He hated that infant seat from day 1.
He's still rear facing in his convertible at almost 4.5, and loving it.
