@josina: totally. It was 28 earlier and I didn't wear a hat Bc it felt "hot"

I have the sickness now. But R slept 730-615 and only woke at 130 and T didn't wake up and I went to bed at 830 so I slept a ton! Thank god this is a "sleep a lot" not "up every 2 hour" illness. Ryan's fever went back up overnight but he is ok this morning. His Cough is sad.

@winniebee: Gahhh, amazing sleep! Glad this illness is good for something, haha. What a bummer that both kids are sick! My toddler is getting over an ear infection too. Winter sucks. Logan's developed a cough too. Does Ryan's cry sound hoarse and pathetic too? I feel so bad listening to Logan cry because he just sounds so hoarse!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: I'm sorry you guys are sick too. Is Xander home from daycare? Ty isn't going to school today (he's actually still sleeping!). Rs cry isn't bad so far! He's a little more congested today.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: No, both my sickos are at daycare. Although Xander's getting over his ear infection and actually seems to be doing better. And Logan I THINK just has a cold that he got from daycare, so I still sent him. No fever though, so maybe not as sick as poor Ryan.

@winniebee: so glad you got some sleep but sorry that you're sick now. I hope you all feel better soon!
@Adira: hope your kids are feeling better soon too!

@MrsF: I have been meaning to ask about your dairy and soy plans?? GI doc told me that we would have seen a difference in spit up and reflux by now with the dairy free diet. But now I'm worried that he will be worse when I try it! I'm thinking of having one item that is very clearly dairy in like a month and see what happens. You?

D consistently sleeps 8 pm to 7 am. B had been struggling with waking early but he slept until 7 am today. Win win!!
Sorry everyone is sick

@BandDmommy: I still can't get over what an amazing sleeper D is! You lucked out!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@BandDmommy: he was doing a 5 or 6 hour stretch mists nights but was waking 3 hours later before this. I'm hoping that the illness regulated him so that he starts doing just one waking! He woke at 615 and was down for a nap at 7 and it's almost 9 and he's still sleeping. Tired baby. That's great that D is still sleeping so well.

@winniebee: I am soooo glad everyone just conked out and got some much needed rest!!
@Adira: I hope both your kids don't get any worse!
@BandDmommy: That is great that both of them are doing amazing!

I don't know if Kara is trying to tell me she doesn't want to go to bed early... She went to bed at 7:50 and she was def tired... But woke up at 8:50 like it was a nap, it has never happened! So I nursed her in bed and she passed out again by 9:30 and she actually slept till 3:30 so she slept 6 hours! But I'm very cautious since I don't believe any of her sleep patterns stick!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Logan went through a stretch where he'd go down between 7:00 and 8:00 and then wake up around 9:00 to eat before doing a long stretch. So hopefully this is the start of some long stretches of sleep for you!

I feel like we are the only ones not on a schedule around here But, eh we aren't and it mostly is working for us. The only thing that is set is K has some really harsh gas at about 4:30 every morning that disturbs her sleep.
We are still mostly just trying to survive the day to day still. Life with two is a struggle. And I feel like I just can't keep up on anything. Clean house? Yah right. Sleep? Overrated! Getting out of the house as a family of four? Challenge, maybe staying in is just best.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: hahaha, WTF is a clean house?? We only have one (for the moment) because my mom came over on Saturday and spent the day cleaning it for me!! As for sleep, I'm already sick of work and having to get up before 5:00 for the day and it's only my second week back. When can I go on vacation? And will someone take my kids so I can sleep??
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: She really is just on a schedule bc we both work! And I'm a schedule person so I kinda need some form of one to keep my sanity haha. I think staying home with her these months were hard b/c I didn't have a sense of schedule and that life is just a giant blur! I totally feel you, and I only have one!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I know, before when I was home, sometimes at least I got around to do some cleaning if she was napping, or if my mom or DH was there too. Now I rely on that 1-2 hrs that she is sleeping at night to do the million things I have to do!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: Ha! I'm a type A personality/accountant. I thrive on organization and schedules. I had to get over that sometime in recent history. My DH is highly spontaneous and having a kiddo throws curveballs all the time. And a couple of hours in the evening? Oh how I wish. Last night I decided to have a bowl of ice cream, because that's just the sort of day it was. When the house was finally calm enough for me to do so and my hands were free, I realized it was already 10:00.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Ugh, yes! That little window at night to get everything done! I have to prepare bottles for the next day, wash bottles and pump parts, get my pump setup for the morning, pick out my outfit for the next day, blah blah blah. And half the time I'm running back to reinsert Logan's pacifier and shush him back to sleep. And then it's like 8:00 p.m. and I'm thinking "I should just go to bed..."
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: haha good decision 2 kids is hard! but once you are over this initial stage, it will be so worth it! I def have to get over my OCD tendencies too.. DH keeps yelling at me b/c I stress myself out so much wanting to do it all when there just isn't time for everything and I'm running on fumes!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Yes! Although yesterday, I was missing a cover again. So they labeled all the covers while I was there so HOPEFULLY I won't lose anything again. It's hard because there are at least two other babies with the same bottles as mine!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: They don't require you to label bottles? We need to label the cover and the bottle. I also put all of our bottles in a large ziploc bag that is also labeled every day.
We use the same Avent bottles as you do. After they use a bottle, it goes back into our large ziploc bag and into our tote bag that goes back home every night.

@winniebee: wow, awesome sleep. Ethan has been doing 6 and then 2 or 3 hrs.
@Adira: Ethan has the hoarse cry, poor thing. It was better this morning after using the humidifier all night, and I do baby Vicks on his feet too. He is back at daycare today.
@MamaG: I'm with you on no schedule! Ours is very flexible with him going to bed anytime between 9 and 10. Up at 7 though. Trying to move bedtime up though since we have the time change this weekend!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: I'm feeling a vacation day coming up soon just so I can spend a day cleaning our house! Not how I want to spend a vacation day, but it's feeling very necessary and the time just isn't coming to me when we are all at home. I seriously think this might need to become a regular occurrence for now. Unfortunately a housekeeper just isn't practical for us right now.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: I have the bottle itself labeled, but I hadn't labeled the cover. And I do the same - all my bottles are in a gallon ziploc that's labeled - I don't know what they are doing that they lose stuff - you'd think they'd just put them back into the ziploc once they've used it! And even the teacher said "I don't know how anything is missing - I put it all back in the bag when done." LOL!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: Poor E! Our babies need to start feeling better! I think Logan might be feeling better though - he was all smiles this morning when I fed him and didn't seem as stuffed up.
@MamaG: That sounds like a terrible use of a vacation day, but I totally get the necessity!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So I forgot to mention this, but I asked the Director of our daycare what happened to my fave infant teacher. Apparently she has been dealing with a bad back for months and it was just getting to the point where she couldn't work anymore. I'm so sad she's gone and I really hope her back gets better now that she won't be bending up and down picking up babies all day, but I am relieved to know she wasn't fired or anything like that!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: oh that stinks! I hope she can find work that doesn't strain her back! My own back hurts from 1 baby so I can't imagine doing it multiple times to multiple kids all day long as your job!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Yes, seriously!! My back and hips hurt and I only have the two kids to deal with (and only in the evening and on weekends now). Plus she was older - probably in her 60s. I'm hoping the woman can just retire or something!

@MamaG: The only schedule we follow pretty tightly is bed time, but during the day we kinda do as she wants, but seems to be eat, play, sleep but then again it can be eat sleep eat sleep..or eat play play eat....lol
I hope everyone with sick babes are getting better!!!!!

OMG, some lady in the cafe at work just asked me if I was still pregnant! Thanks a lot!

@winniebee: I'm so conflicted about the MSPI business. I started it when J was so young (3 weeks?) that I really have no idea if it's an actual issue or not. He still has the mucousy stools even with my diet but is a pretty happy baby ( at least compared to M). I actually had soy 3 or 4 times about a week ago to try and experiment. I didn't notice anything except maybe increased spitting up. I didn't tell DH I was eating soy because I wanted one of us not be symptom-spotting (a double blind study?). He didn't mention anything, so I think it was probably ok. As I'm sure you know though - dairy-free is harder than soy-free
I'm not sure what to do with the dairy issue. I want to experiment but I keep chickening out. I could do it this weekend but we were thinking of transitioning him to the crib... etc. It seems like a lot of people start with something minor like baked dairy, but something with major dairy would probably give you a more obvious reaction. Gah - I'm so torn.

@BandDmommy: That's amazing sleep! Life is so much better when everyone is well-rested. Happy for you!
@snowjewelz: Glad you got some good rest even though K woke up quickly at first. I always wonder how J knows that it's bedtime rather than one of his many naps.
@MamaG: Life with two is no joke! I personally feel like the very loose schedule that we have makes me feel sane, but it's not for everyone. Whatever works! And speaking of cleaning - my house is a wreck. It's my fantasy to pay someone to clean, but I just can't justify it right now. Oh well. Our kids won't be this little forever. I keep telling myself this is just one season in life...
and if you take a vacation day - try to give yourself half to clean and have to do something relaxing We have to take care of ourselves too!
@josina: Glad E is feeling better today!
@Adira: That's good that your fav teacher wasn't fired or anything. I'm sure it's still hard not to have her there though
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: Totally. You can only do that newborn no bedtime nonsense for so long...
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: exactly I keep chickening out. With Ty it was obvious (blood in stool at 8w). We weren't totally convinced it was dairy so at4m I had a piece of pizza and the next day he had blood in his stool. Since I was pumping we just decided to start giving nutramigen and half frozen breastmilk. But at 4.5 months the gi doc tested his stool and there was still blood so we went straight to nutramigen. This time there was no blood with Ryan. Just some mucousy stool and spit up. So I've been off dairy somewhat since 4w and completely since 6w. I think I will test the waters at 4m.
