@MrsF: Then again, I kinda loved that first week when they just slept and slept and slept! I remember I was like, wait, why is this easy?!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: Exactly the same here. M had obvious blood in her stool and cried SO much that it was very clear. I did bring home some guaiac cards (occult blood tests) from work so I can test J's stools when I do decide to have dairy.
Have R's stools or spit up improved without dairy?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: they a yellowish color (sometimes an orangey sometimes mucousy sometimes seedy. Occasionally green (though he had a green one this morning I think Bc sick). His spit up is randomly better but then randomly worse. Overall the same.

We are still on a bottle strike I know it's not do or die as I'm not going back to work anytime soon, but would like the luxury of leaving with out the 2 hr time frame.....
Any suggestions? Any mom's go through it that didn't really have to force it on them?
I've left, been in different rooms, tried DH, my mom and 3 different bottles, also milk room temp, warm and just pumped?
She just gums it and plays and eventually gets pissed

@FaithFertility: I guess that's what I get for eating like crap during my maternity leave!
As for the bottle strike, I have no advice. I'm sorry you're dealing with this!

@Adira: I'm not too concerned just don't want it to last..
or become a true habit ya know!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Hmm. How long are they trying to feed her for? In the beginning DH fed her for like 45 min... He would try to feed her, if she gets mad, then wait till she is calm, let her play a lil while, etc. And sometimes even after 45 min she drank like 1 oz. Also he would first sit with her, then get up and walk around, dangle a toy in front of her... She will drink sometimes staring at a light in the ceiling...
Also have they tried diff timing? Like, try right when she wakes up still groggily. Or try to feed one boob and then make a switcheroo?
Don't get too frustarted, some LOs are just stubborn! I was soo panicked when she refused bottles but it gets better!

@snowjewelz: About 20 mins because by then since I wait until it is time for her to eat she is livid!!
DH is actually getting her up from the nap as we speak and is going to try it, she isn't drowsy but hasn't seen me and should be hungry!
I like the sleeping try, maybe trick her and see, but she is pretty smart...lol

@FaithFertility: Oh man sorry you are still dealing with this. My SIL just went through this with her daughter. She took a bottle beautifully at first but then did a strike for at least a month. What worked was she went away for a night and left her with my mom and my mom fought through and got her to take it! She def doesn't drink as much from the bottle as while BF but she WILL take a bottle now.

Well she took about an once and a half like a champ and then stopped and screamed...lol....but I count that as progress....
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: looots of patience def needed for this.. I know you can do it! (or rather DH lol). And keep it at daily! You never know one feeding she might suddenly just be in the mood
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: that is what I'm hoping for just like one day she changed her mood to hate it
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: ughhh I don't have the back bone to do that yet....
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: my niece was 12w when she did it. My sil was heading back to work and was stressed and a little overnight with my brother helped!

Ryan's cough is bad. His fever keeps creeping up in the evening. Tonight 101.6. This is awful. All his labs came back negative but I just feel worried.

@Adira: so rude! don't people know you should pretty much never ask if someone is pregnant?? I'm sorry
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: I'm s sorry that R's not getting better yet I can see how it would be scary when they're so little.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: sorry you're still struggling with the bottles. I really had to put it in DH's hands and leave the house for a long time and give it a try every day. DH still feeds him sitting opposite from J with J in the bouncy chair. Has your DH tried something like that? It seems like the cradle position is too similar to nursing sometimes.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: your mom's a champ for doing the bottle boot camp! That must have been so helpful for your SIL.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: Yeah I think if we can't get it in a few more weeks it will be what we do
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Oh man so today was Kara's first day spending the morning at my SILs. So of course she ate and napped bad. She went to sleep at 5:45 at home and hasn't woken up! I think I will attempt dream feed between 9-10 if she doesn't wake up!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: Sorry that her routine was so off She'll settle into the new pattern soon!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: I wonder if it took her that long to realize "Hey! This isn't Mom!!"
@winniebee: Ugh, sorry to hear about Ryan! Logan doesn't have a fever, but has a horrible cough too. He woke up in the middle of the night just hacking up a long and sounding so congested. I feel bad for our babies!
@MrsF: Seriously! I thought everyone knew you should never ask someone if they are pregnant, even if it's OBVIOUS!
@snowjewelz: Did you end up doing the dreamfeed? I do that with Logan if he falls asleep early and doesn't show signs of waking. I just need my own sleep so badly, I don't want to let him just sleep only to wake me up at 1:00 a.m. or something!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I did! I got her at 10, changed her diaper and fed her and her eyes were closed the whole time. But do you still record it as if she "woke up"?
@FaithFertility: She did alright! After her dream feed she did another 4 hours and then another 4. I think she was really exhausted lol.
We have snow storm Thor coming our way and I can't wait to stay home tomorrow!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: With Logan, if he seems pretty groggy/sleepy during the whole thing, I consider that a successful dreamfeed and that he didn't wake up. If his eyes are open though, I probably woke him up!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: That's how Xander was too. Every time I tried to dreamfeed him, he'd just wake right up! He was a very light sleeper to begin with, so that was part of it. Logan seems like he might be a heavier sleeper and has actually slept through a dreamfeed before! Though doing a diaper change always wakes him up.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: If I don't consider her waking up since her eyes were closed the whole time (but she was wriggling around during diaper change), then she would've slept for 8 hours!

So inspired by D's swimming pics, I looked up infant swim classes in my area and kinda want to try them out! I got great recommendations for one that has free classes from 2-6 mos, I gotta call to find out more!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Good call! I want to do swimming lessons for Xander this summer and maybe I'll see if Logan can do some too!
