I don't nurse before naps (usually) but I definitely still do before bedtime. I just nurse her til she is done with some dim lights on, then into bed she goes, whether she is asleep or just drowsy. I'll do that as long as it works, and then we will figure something else out when (not if...when...) it stops working

@MamaG: yeah - I'm pretty sure it's just height because he still fits in smaller onesies and rompers without feet.
@MrsF: ha, I've never been able to do the whole drowsy but awake thing with H. But he's been a bit harder to get down for naps lately.

@Adira: Awww!! All of the babies are looking so much older now!

M is pretty much in 3-6 month clothes now too (though today he wore a 9 month shorts outfit & it fit pretty well).
I say fussing is when M starts doing his 'fake crying' to let us know he's getting annoyed, but not 100% there yet.

@adira: he's such a handsome little (big!) guy.
I've been slowly moving E out of her 0-3/3 month stuff and into the 3-6/6 month outfits. We have been out of the 3 month footed sleepers for awhile because it seemed like her legs couldn't straighten! Plus I had a fair number of hand-me-downs from K to use. We are still rocking 0-3/3 month pants, although most of those are starting to get a little tight around the belly as she has been chunking up lately! Her leg rolls have leg rolls. Ha.

In seeing folks complain about 4am feeds (which is a dream for me) curious if Ryan is still the worst sleeper!
He goes down around 8 and typically is awake around 1230/1 and again at 4 or so. Up for the day around 7 or 730. We have had a few fluke nights where he has slept 6-7 hours but they were exactly that - a fluke. He takes a paci but I haven't really tried to stretch him out with it yet (honestly I don't want to be dependent on it at night). He will be 3m tomorrow. His brother was only up once a night by now and in fact slept totally through on occasion. I don't expect that from Ryan for a long time based on how bad sleep started out.

@winniebee: G 80% of the time will sleep 8-3 or 4 but maybe once a week will wake at 1/2 as well
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Freckles: K doesn't take a pacifier either! She sucks her thumb but she gets herself worked up when she can't find it! I am really hoping she perfects thumb sucking and puts herself to sleep already!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: eh kara is around the same. I def do not have a great sleeper!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: Ethan is probably in the running for worst sleeper too. We have had only 2 6-hr stretches so far and he is 14 weeks. Last night was 4-2-3. If he does do a 6 hr stretch, he only does 2 after usually. And lately he fuses around 5:30 each morning and I let him sleep on me till I get up. I always nurse to sleep at night. Naps vary.
Ethan is in 3-6 month and 6 month clothes. Too tall for 3 month footies and the waist is getting pretty tight.
Ethan sucks at the pacifier, he takes it but can not keep it in. He will suck on his fingers now so hoping he learns to self sooth.
@winniebee: How is Ryan doing now health-wise? Ethan is stuffy and coughing, hopefully we are almost done with this cold.
60 degree temps this week, excited!

How long are your LO going between naps or getting tired?
We are usually 1.5hrs
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: We are in the no paci club too, she had a WubbaNub and actually holds the paci part and sucks on the arm/leg...lol
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: ugh ok I'm not alone. Ryan has come a long way so I feel like I can't complain. His cough is still bad bad. No fevers though. I have to snot suck him before naps and bed but the cough is the bad part. It's been a full week since he got sick but the doc said the cough could linger 2-3 wks!!!!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: usually 1.5 hours but this morning it was 3 hours because he just didnt fall asleep when it was time and then we had to leave so he slept in the car seat.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: ok again letting my mom's comments get me I have got to get over it
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@winniebee: your four hour stretches sound great right now H's sleep has been terrible. He usually won't go down until between 9-10:30. He's been sleeping anywhere from 3-1.5 hrs. Occasionally some 4 hrs, but not frequently. Last night I left his arms unswaddled, in the hopes to wean him off the swaddle, so I imagine that's why his sleep was so bad. I'm hoping he can stretch things out!
I honestly think that it would be better if we could moves him into his own room - I probably wouldn't get up as much, and hopefully he's could learn to self-smooth a bit better Oh well. Maybe that's just wishful thinking
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@FaithFertility: usually between 1-1.5 hrs of awake time. At night if he's fighting sleep, sometimes it's 2-3.
persimmon / 1050 posts
@winniebee: M is kinda the same in the sleep dept. He'll go to bed anywhere from 7-9pm usually, then eats about 1am or so, and wakes trying to poop from 4am on. DH says sometimes they'll fall asleep in the recliner for about 45 min or so at a time until 7am when DH gets up for the day.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Logan goes 1-1.5 hours between naps. Although longer at daycare.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: J is going 1.5 to 2 hours between naps. Sometimes a little longer in the evening if I'm solo and trying to get M fed and bathed, but he's crazy tired by that point.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Oh yeah. Er Ryan is sometimes awake for 3 hours before bed. He fights evening sleep and at most will take. 20 min cat nap in the swing. Lucky me!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@winniebee: a isn't getting super long stretches either. He will do 4 hour stretches at most, maybe 5 on a good night.
@FaithFertility: I go upstairs about 1.25 hours after waking up and try to have him asleep by 1.5 hours after wake up. Sometimes it will be sooner (1 hr) if he had a really short nap.
pear / 1961 posts
E generally is 1-1.5 hrs between naps. Usually towards 1hr in the morning, and then sometimes 2-3 before bedtime unless I put her down for a late nap. Still trying to figure out what works best! If we go 2-3, she is usually a hot little mess right when we try to eat dinner.
pomelo / 5660 posts
D regularly sleeps 10 hours at night. She takes 3 naps, one long and 2 short.
nectarine / 2210 posts
Ours naps aren't the best and don't really seem consistent. But on the bright side she does sleep 10 straight hours pretty consistently at night.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@Freckles: no crib yet. She sleeps in PNP next to our bed. I'm freaked out about SIDS. I want her next to me so I can hear her breathe.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: How's Ryan doing? Is he feeling better? Logan still doesn't have a fever, but his cough has gotten worse. Now he'll wake in the middle of the night, sounding like he's trying to hack up a lung.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: @josina: @theotherstark: Alright,R, E, H & K are officially forming the terrible sleeper's club
@FaithFertility: I saw some chart somewhere about wake times by month and I believe 3 mo is 1-1.5 hrs! She is usually 1.5-2 hrs but sometimes by the 1 hr mark she is sleepy again!
@BandDmommy: Me too! That's why I co-sleep! When she is in her own room I end up checking the monitor all the time, and if I can't really see I'm tempted to go in and check!
I just ordered the magic merlin from HB... K never really took the the swaddles, and I put her in the zipadee but it really doesn't do much and she just sucks the fabric where her hands would be... So I'm hoping the magic merlin sleepsuit would help her sleep better!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: last night was good! Bed at 845 up at 130 and 515 up for day at 815. Wait that must be terrible for others! I ordered the Merlin suit too. He is still swaddled but can almost break out of the miracle blanket even while in the rock n play so I might try that one soon. My niece was never swaddled and loves it.
@Adira: yesterday was the first day I felt like he was a little better not constantly coughing. He still coughs quite a bit but it isn't waking him up at night anymore. Going on day 8 here though. I hope Logan feels better soon. It's alms it spring!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: @Adira: We're on day 11 of this cold, and the dr. told us 10-14 days I think. He still sounds horrible most of the time but is a happy baby at least.
How did everyone do with the time change?
I put Ethan to bed at 8-ish, up at 12, 4, and 6 to nurse and then woke him up at 7 because his diaper soaked through...
We're using Huggies right now, and thats 2 nights in a row his diapers didn't make it through the night... best brand for overnight?
nectarine / 2210 posts
@josina: we started moving her bedtime up slowly last week so it want that extreme. We put her down at 730, and she was still sleeping when I had to wake her up at 545.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Ryan's sleep really isn't bad! We had 4-3-4, but I guess I'm still tired b/c when she's doing her 1st 4 hr stretch it starts at like 8 something and I'm not sleeping till 9-10! Then between the next 2 stretches she fusses a lil bit here & there... She doesn't wake up but I do! That's why I'm hoping maybe the merlin sleepsuit will help her stay sleeping!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
We did do anything different at night... She just woke up late today and made me late for work lol. I could've woken her up but I haaaate doing that!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: We had almost the same night bed by 8:30 up at 1 and 4......and the day by 8...it isn't that bad as I make myself go to bed by 9, but I do get used to those 8-4 stretches that she will do for days......
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Your husband is a doctor right? Did you bring Ryan to see the pediatrician because of his fever? Or do you think I should bring Logan because he's had this cold and cough for a week now??
@josina: We're using Pampers Swaddlers, but he gets a change around 8:00 p.m. and another around 5:00 a.m.. With my older son, he's in Huggies Overnites, which seem to work really well.
As for the time change, Logan seems to have adapted to it just fine... or worse! He woke up at 4:45 to eat, which would've been 3:45 before the time change. So... WTF??
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: We did just fine, we did bed time a little later as 7:30 came quick... lol she went down like normal and was in bed by 8:30
Up at 1 and 4 then for the day at 8, she sometimes does that extra wake up at 1 ...but it is not too bad!
