@cheert16: So sorry about the nipple pain and rough nights! The first days home can be so tough
I don't have much advice on the nipple pain. I was using tons of lanolin and the LC I saw told me to stop and just express some milk onto
The nipple before and after nursing. She thought the lanolin was too slippery and was affecting his latch. If you have cracks you might need something though - I know lots of bees swear by APNO.

@snowjewelz: I had a mirena IUD in between my two kids and loved it. I still had periods with it (some people don't) but no spotting in between and conceived LO #2 easily after it was removed.

Gahhh! I thought this growth spurt was over, but Logan has been nursing on and off for a couple hours now! I need a break from him, but everytime I try to put him down, he immediately wakes up and starts rooting.

@MamaG: nice! Nothing to worry about ever again! I'm not a fan of sticking anything inside either, but after pushing out a baby it doesn't seem like a big deal anymore

@Adira: I don't think we are out of the woods just yet! I don't even know when to start bed time routines or anything since she is still eating so often!

@snowjewelz: I know you asked @MrsF:, but I didn't find the insertion or removal of the Mirena painful. A little uncomfortable but nothing serious. I really wanted to love it. It's such a good option.

@snowjewelz: i hardly even remember it being uncomfortable. Supposedly it's much better after you've given birth.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: bummer that it didn't work out for you!
@MrsF: haha yeah I figure since it's all nice and stretched out lol!

Thanks for the concern about my hubby. I think it was a blessing in disguise. :).
As for BC, I'm not going on any, we are trying for #3 soon, so no need to start something and then end it after only a few months. My OB is not going to be thrilled we want to try for #3 so soon.

@BandDmommy: how come? Do they have some kind of ideal time gap? When do you want to start trying? It's so exciting! I def am not ready to do this again anytime soon lol!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@BandDmommy: I am kind of thinking the same, I dont really want to go back on BC, and would rather just let baby #2 happen whenever. Hopefully breast feeding would be enough BC for awhile.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@snowjewelz: last time he said at least a year and year and a half would be better.

@BandDmommy: lol, no kidding. The odds are probably against me too since both me and dh have siblings less than a year apart!

@FaithFertility: yea I was so happy to be home; being at the hospital is like the twilight zone! Get some rest! We have very limited visitors so far so I can keep my sanity haha!

Looooong night last night. We got a four hour stretch. Unfortunately that was the only sleep we got Lots of moaning and groaning from the little guy. Gas maybe?

@MrsF: Ugh sounds rough. I swear D sounds like a baby dinosaur with all her grunts.

@FaithFertility: yay! Glad you are home! Visitors can be overwhelming. Need to do what's best for you and your LO!

@BandDmommy: glad to hear DH is ok! I'm in awe of you guys wanting to start again so soon!
@MrsF: ouch. Sounds awful!
I have no idea what we will do for BCP. I'm guessing ill do the mini pill while BF. If we decide on a third we wouldn't try until this one is a year (at least that is my preference). Life is too chaotic to think about that right now.
Ts cold is raging and he's not sleeping. R has his days and nights confused. Last night slept an hour, then two, then two then 1. With 45-1 hour wakings. No one is sleeping here! He's suddenly having trouble with my right boob and I don't know why. Latching and unlatching esp at night. Not sure if it's my hold or what. Would love to see my LC next week but the thought of taking my toddler along is not ideal. Will wait to see how things go over the weekend.
@FaithFertility: welcome home!
@Adira: we are having some weird latch issues too. I feel you!

We'll be using Creighton method NFP again. I'm guessing it'll be a moot point for a while though - it took 13 months for my cycle to return last time. We'd like a third, but it's too soon to think about that yet for me.
C only woke up once last night between 10:30 and 6:30. That would be fab if my sweet toddler hadn't woken up three times!
@FaithFertility: Hooray for being home! Hopefully you can settle in as your newly expanded family now!

@BandDmommy: so noisy! We have the white noise in our room (and in our toddler's room) and I have a pillow over my head and I still hear every grunt.

What time are the peanuts going down for the evening? I keep trying earlier since I have to get up with the toddler. Average is 10 tho

@MrsF: I'm super conscious of dairy intolerance too since T had one. When did his poo start changing?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I am confused about that; I feel like there is no "bed time" since its always a cycle of sleeping for 2-3 hrs and waking up to day so it always depends on when the feedings are? We generally head upstairs between 10-11.
I feel like Kara is awake for longer now.. What are we supposed to do with her? We do a lil tummy time, talk to her, sing, etc. too early for playmats/toys?

I had a hormonal breakdown last night and just cried and cried. DH asked me what was wrong and I coukdnt answer him without crying. I just feel very overwhelmed with everything. My milk came in on day 2 and by day 3 I was soooo engorged. Micah doesn't nurse every two hours like he's supposed to and I try to wake him up to eat but he just wants to sleep. Sometimes he goes longer than 4 hours without eating and it's making me nervous! He's got plenty of wet/dirty diapers and I figure he'd be really fussy if he was hungry. Plus recovering from this c-section hasn't been easy. I am just an emotional mess!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@whenoceansrise: hugs! It is definitely emotional in the beginning. I was hormonal mess right after D was born.

@winniebee: we go upstairs about 9. Last night he didn't take the hint, but we tried!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: yeah, it's not really bed time - but at least if he falls asleep we're upstairs! I do think he usually falls asleep more readily upstairs because the lights are out, he's swaddled and the white noise is on.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: hang in there! I was just there! There was a day when Kara cried all day and so did I. Just let it out and try to take a break/get a lil rest whenever you can. There are gonna be good days and also really bad ones, I'm taking it one day at a time!
About the feedings, just try your best to keep him awake but don't kill yourself over it. If his diaper count is good he should be getting enough! And maybe you can pump a lil to relieve the engorgement? Not too much tho so your body doesn't think it needs to make more
ETA- I was so frustrated one night I yelled at my dog and took it out on her not my proudest moment!

I am so far behind with everything going on here and will comment soon, but I wanted to check in with you ladies. After giving us a good scare, Charlie is doing really well right now. He is very stable now after his bowel surgery, although he is on a ventilator and IV meds. We don't know why his bowel perforated like it did, as the doctors even find it to be a bizarre thing that happened with no clear explanation. We ended up being transferred to another hospital 2 hours away so that he can have his heart surgery sooner, but it sounds like we can't expect surgery until New Years so his bowel will have time to heal, giving us a minimum of 4 weeks here before Charlie can come home. But, they are hoping to take him off the vent today or tomorrow and get him as close to unwired as possible over the next week. My milk came in around day 3/4 (yey!) but I have no idea if I am generating an appropriate supply with the number of times I am pumping and the volumes I am getting (close to 1 oz per hour between pumps right now). Any with previous EPing experience have any advice?
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@whenoceansrise: in some ways, the early days are the worst! There were times with L where I felt unsure of whether I was cut out for this, but it gets better! Take it a day at a time, and you'll soon find you've made it through engorgement, recovery, etc and hit your groove! And until then, vent away if course!
@winniebee: We've been putting her down and going to bed too at around 10/10:30. She usually clusterfeeds from when we put her sister down at around 7:30 until then, so DH and I just hang out and veg a little during that time.
